The details of an FCC visit to the station of Free Radio San Diego.

At approximatly 1:30pm on Monday, June 16th 2003, two DJ's looked out their window and noticed someone wearing the same shirt that and FCC agent had worn on a prior vist on May 9, 2003.

Quickly grabbing the video camera, the DJ's stayed inside the station and watched the two agents patroll the alley and canyon area, taking notes, snapping pictures, and recording information that will certainly be used in an attempt to shut down Free Radio San Diego.

Below is a picture from the first encounter in May.

Please help FRSD 96.9FM stay on the air by going with us on June 27th in an effort to remind the powers that be of who we are, and that we will not sit back and watch this station get pulled off the air. Please email the station for more information on this.

The "powers that be" are not benign in nature, nor can we be if we expect results.

The full audio of the May enounter is here, although it has been remixed a bit to put some rather appropriate music behind it.

Please Don't Feed the Trolls

Wikipedia defines an Internet Troll as: "either a person who sends messages on the Internet hoping to entice other users into angry or fruitless responses, or a message sent by such a person." San Diego IMC strives to provide both a grassroots media resource as well as a forum for people to contribute to a meaningful discussion about local issues. Please, when posting comments, be respectful of others and ignore those trying to interrupt or discourage meaningful discourse. Thank you.

I'm a dj on FRSD 96.9...monday nites Unwind from 7 to 11pm....we're just getting started yo. The airwaves our yours and we're taking back for you. Unlike the FCC claims, we're producing solid, thought provoking programming. How many radio stations give Malcom X or Jello Biafra hours at a time to relay their messages to the public....not even 94.9 will do that. I'd love to write more articles for you guys ion what really goes on down here at FRSD 96.9. So let me know....i'll drop the science on ya. ONE LOVE.

I am another member of the entity calling itself "Free Radio San Diego" and I am here to say that we REALLY need community support. Write your local politicians (those cunts who don't give a shite about us) and also petition the local FCC office and let them know that you love (or like) FRSD 96.9FM and that those bitches need to back the fuck up off our grill, yo.

No Access!

20.06.2003 19:18

I got hyped about Free Radio San Diego when I first saw a flyer at Mira Costa College O'side late 2002. It depicted Uncle Sam pointing at me with the phrase "I WANT YOU TO JOIN THE WAR ON TERROR!" above it, followed by "Free Radio San Diego" below. Trouble is I can't pick up the signal from O'side! Can I listen on-line?

The FCC needs to make like a tree and leaf.

Stay strong! Nothing great comes easy, for if it did, it would cease to be great. The FCC can take a hike. Their idea of "public interest" is the total of all things they can get away with, inwhich they deam interesting. I feel mentaly poisened every time hear a FCC regulated broadcast!

The Community Versus the FCC

28.06.2003 00:15

The FCC has turned it's back on the community years ago when it decided that stations should have 100,000 watts transmitters and "supposedly" serve 100's of communties at one time. Especially when they decided that only a few CORPORATE voices (or those voices which did not contradict the corporation) to be on the air. This is Not free speech,
This is speech to the highest bidder.

Help us put an end to corporate dominated air-waves, and put them where they belong, in the hands of who really own the American air-waves, it's citizens.

The FCC and the RIAA can kiss my doodyhole!

29.06.2003 12:13

The fooking RIAA tried to shut down RAGRADIO, the first Shoutcast internet radio station (Literally). I was a DJ there until the owner folded it back in December or so.

The RIAA is hand-in-hand, or, better yet, mouth-to-genital area, with the FCC to ensure that the Music Industry is "controlled" and we only get to hear what Clearchannel wants us to hear.

Fook that! Support Free Radio.

Oh yah, Muckraking Reporters can sit on a fork, too!

The fcc is always very spiteful against radio stations like "Free Radio San Diego". In a way the Fcc could be right. Your radio station maybe causing frequencies that will disrupt regular Ambulance, Planes etc.. In another way the Fcc is very up tight about every little thing. You can't get away with anything that's being said on the radio. They will probably sue for using the word "Bitch". Fcc and other government formed operations is all out to get money and that's it. It's christmas everyday to them. But what "Free Radio San Diego" was doing was obviously illegal. But don't shut down their radio station just because of that. Give them a second chance to do things right. Everyone makes mistakes. They were a very good radio station.
