We've done a ton of work in the last few weeks to make San Diego Indymedia more usable and more accessible, as well as to make it easier for people to get involved with us.

The main feature we've added is translations. Now, in the left column, there is a language selection box. When choosing Español, you'll be presented with our site en Español, including all buttons and forms. If you find an error in our translation, please email it to us. Also, we added the "Add A Translation" feature so that every story has an "Add A Translation" button. This way, people can easily add translations to stories so that when a user goes to the spanish section of the site, the articles are en Español also.

What does this mean? We need translators! Are you bilingual? Are you interested in helping us tear down the borders that separate our community? Are you dedicated to challenging racism by building understanding? If so, email the new San Diego Indymedia Translation group at imc-sd-translation at lists.indymedia.org .

Our posting forms have been totally overhauled. This means that if you get an error, the story you typed in won't be lost. In addition, we've begun using encryption for our posting forms to protect the privacy of our posters. You may get an error about our encryption certificate, that is normal, its because we don't have an expensive certificate licensed from some megacorporation, but one we made ourselves. It still works just as well. We've also moved our Publish and Event Calendar links up to a more prominent place to encourage users to post!

We're also working on the "light" layout of our site, because some users have requested it. You can see the light version by clicking on the "light" link next to color in the upper right hand corner of the front page.

At the very top of the page, check out the "contact" and "how to participate" links, they've been recently updated.

Lastly, we've added a cell phone txt messaging list at  http://txtmob.org . If you create an account there and sign up for the imc-sd list, we'll send you important breaking news updates for big events like the January 20th Counter-Inaugural protests.

We're doing a ton of work to provide you with a great Independent Media Center, and we need help! Check out the "how to participate" page to find out how you can help us with the media revolution,

Thanks,

Please Don't Feed the Trolls

Wikipedia defines an Internet Troll as: "either a person who sends messages on the Internet hoping to entice other users into angry or fruitless responses, or a message sent by such a person." San Diego IMC strives to provide both a grassroots media resource as well as a forum for people to contribute to a meaningful discussion about local issues. Please, when posting comments, be respectful of others and ignore those trying to interrupt or discourage meaningful discourse. Thank you.

Maybe W sits around thinking about his 'place in history'. I really doubt any of the volunteers doing this site do.

What was deleted that is bugging you so much?

We thought your comment actually had some good, valid points. All of these I personally agree with:

"1.Companies are in the business to make money.

2. If companies find that some segment of their company is hurting their business, they'll ELIMINATE IT. (That means all those that 'sick out' will be called and told to STAY HOME!)

3. The company will either hire NEW people after they've determined that they're not going to pull a childish stunt like a general strike OR they'll outsource those jobs that were suddenly not getting done on January 20th."

That is fine. BUT, what we don't tolerate on this site is rude, absurb ad hominem attacks like the one you ended your comment with:

"It really amazes me just how SHORT-TERM you fuckers think ahead. No wonder you're all a bunch of smelly hippes - you cannot aford to buy a bar of Ivory soap cause you keep getting fired!!"

We are happy to post your comments Mikey if they do not disrespect our community of readers and writers.
