Saturday April 2nd
STOP THE WALL!
March and protest the construction of the third wall at the border of San Diego and Tijuana.
For information go to STOP THE WALL!

Some great links about the border can be found here

Read about how the House overrode the Coastal Commission's rejection in October 2004

Speak up! Contact the Senate to say voice your concerns about the bill that would exempt this fence from environmental laws.

Take I5 South to Dairy Mart Road. Exit Dairy Mart Rd and Turn Right at the light. Drive about 2 miles along country road until you get to Park entrance (usually closed to automobiles). Park here. This is where the March starts, it's about a 1.5 mile walk. The rally is at the border fence. You can also meet us through the fence for the rally from the Mexican side in Playas de Tijuana. The Rally is at 12pm simultaneously in Tijuana and in Playas through the fence.

old platitudes make bad policies

01.04.2005 13:02

"good fences make good neighbors"

Millions of Mexicans, Guatemalans, Salvadorans, and Nicaraguans would die laughing if we were to tell them this and still pretend to be serious. Of course, the foundation for good policy making is always rooted in our deference to old, trite statements entrenched in North American hyper-individualist, neocapitalist paradigms, especially when they fail to make reference to even one element of the contemporary political landscapes in the US and Mexico.

What's more, this says nothing about the exemptions of the fence from environmental regulations. ...because the waters in Baja and Alta California are not polluted enough...

to the person who originally posted this quote, your forte must not be Robert Frost. Robert Frost intended this line to be ironic, in that obviously if you're good neighbors, no fence is needed. furthermore, many argue that Frost is making a social commentary on human's need for unnatural boundaries and limitations, when the most natural inclination for human beings is to rebel against these "fences."

moreover, if national "security" is what this entire issue is about, then i'm afraid that people do not understand that another wall is not going to stop terrorism - there is little evidence that "terrorists" have used the gaps in the US/Mexico border to come across.

the real issues here are the hypocrisy of US relations with Mexico, and the little regard we hold for our diminishing environment.

ok

Here's another old saying...

Those who are ready to sacrifice freedom for security will ultimately lose both.

terrorists may not have crossed the border...

but each year, thousands of people sneak drugs, firearms and even human organs and sex slaves across the US/Mexico border, fueling inner city gang wars, organized crime and the activities of drug cartels, which lead to the deaths of hundreds, maybe even thousands of innocent people in America, many of which are black and hispanic, which is tantamount to terrorism. Security is a freedom and a right that fewer and fewer people, especially those living near the border, are being granted.

Build the wall higher and longer!!!

Vicente Fox is a Bum!!!!

Mexico should take care of their own citizens,. NOT send them over to America to collect welfare

Mexico,. Clean up your own financial mess

EXTEND THE WALL ACROSS THE ENTIRE BORDER

It's amazing what the left chooses to ingnore in order to make themselves feel better, isn't it? In a way I hope a chem/bio weapon is smuggled across that open ass border and detonated.

Of course, won't there be hand wringing then from the left, calling for Bush's impeachment because he wasn't protecting us. The hypocracy of the left knows no boundaries.

Build that damn fence.

Joshua
