Border Fence

06.04.2005 04:34

Border Fence is not the reason the park is dying as aluded to in your picture. the many years of raw sewage and other waste dumped by Mexico into the Tijuana river that flows through the park is killing it. every year during the rains especially the heavy rains Mexico dumps its toxic waste into the river which over flows and does more damage than the fence ever will. I have a fence around my house and yard, yet the birds, squirells and grass do well in that environment, but let the raw sewage and other pollutants flow in from Mexico which has nothing to do with why the landscape at Border Field state park is dying. fight the right battles. Stop Mexico from polluting the park

bob, if you had read up on the proposed fence, you would know that it's a highway sized, 100 meter wide by 5 miles long fence that's being proposed. I don't imagine that's what's in your backyard. Bulldozing all the hills and mesas in that endangered species perserve is definitely going to do some damage. Yes, there has been dumping by Mexico. You can thank NAFTA and its lowest common denominator environmental regulations for that.

fight the fence

I know what the fence is like

the dumping has been going on long before NAFTA and would continue if the US didn't build a treatment plant. Mexico would never stop because they don't care. plus the fence is already in others areas and there is minimal damage. what life or animals live in sewage, an animal can adapt to a fence or go around, but sewage kills and spoils their food chain a fence doesn't. encrochment on animal habitats has been happening for years in San Diego and they always adapt, so go ahead keep polluting, that is alot safer than a fence. fight a fight worth it, it pollutes the land and ocean killing more than a fence. plus the fence will stop people from trudging through these so called habitats that are in need of protection. it will also keep them from leaving garbage. but then what do you care.
