A todas las organizaciones en contra la violencia, la discriminación y el embuste de inmigrantes en la frontera y en este país:
C o m p a ñ e r @ s,
Considerando la amenaza que el grupo de vigilantes racistas y las organizaciones racistas que los respaldan, representan para nuestr @s herman @s , que intentan cruzar la frontera en busca de una mejor vida: ciudadanos consientes del sur de California, se han dado la tarea de formar GENTE UNIDA una Coalición pro derechos humanos en la frontera.
GENTE UNIDA es un grupo de organizaciones e individuos independientes que pretende brindar un espacio en el cual los diferentes esfuerzos en la lucha por los derechos de nuestra gente, puedan unirse en una voz enfocada en combatir la creciente ola de violencia dirigida a nuestros hermanos cruzando la frontera y la discriminación e injusticia vivida por nuestra gente en este país.
GENTE UNIDA respeta la autonomía y el auto determinación de todas las organizaciones e individuos independientes y entendemos que cada uno de estos tendrá sus propias metas, métodos e ideologías. Nuestro esfuerzo es solo por una conexión para fortalecer la lucha.
Como base, nos oponemos a la militarización de la frontera y a cualquier grupo racista que intente hostigar y violar los derechos humanos de nuestra gente. Enfatizamos los siguientes tres puntos:
***UNIR
Con el entendimiento de que existe una cantidad grande de organizaciones trabajando con los mismos objetivos y la falta de comunicación y de unión entre las mismas, hemos adoptado la unión como uno de nuestros principios.
***RESISTIR
Es sumamente importante el establecer que nuestra gente a sido sometida a el peor de los tratos: discriminación, humillación, muerte y engaño. Es tiempo de que el "gigante durmiente" despierte! Por medio de demostraciones publicas, escritos, arte, o cualquier otra manera debemos resistir a seguir bajo estas condiciones.
***FLORECER
La necesidad de el mejoramiento económico, social, espiritual e intelectual de nuestra gente es evidente. Por esta razón Gente Unida enfocara énfasis en promover la importancia de informar a la comunidad de acontecimientos, el incluirlos en los esfuerzos por su superación.
Como primer iniciativa invitamos a las organizaciones e individuos asistir a una marcha en repudio a la violencia dirigida a los compañe @s cruzando la frontera. Tal marcha se llevara acabo el próximo 2 de Julio en San Ysidro esquina de Park and Hall (volante adjunto).
De igual manera, bajo el espíritu de unión y solidaridad hacemos un llamado a todo individuo que quiera participar en esta lucha a asistir a las juntas de Gente Unida. Sábados a las 11am en el parque Chicano. Actualmente estamos en el proceso de estructurar un plan de acción para evitar la intervención inhumana de los grupos rasitas en nuestra región.

To all organization is solidarity with the struggle against immigrant violence, discrimination and treachery against immigrants:
Considering the acts of hate and violence that the racist groups have carried out against immigrants, conscious citizens and organizations of Southern California have gathered forces to form GENTE UNIDA a Coalition for immigrant human rights.
GENTE UNIDA is a group of organizations and independent individuals that aims to provide a space in which the different organizations and individual actions opposing the acts of violence on the borders and discrimination against immigrants in this country, can come together to form one voice.
As a group of organizations and individuals, GENTE UNIDA understands and respects the fact that every individual will have its own opinions and strategies. We respect the autonomy and self-determination of all participants. Our call is not to direct the struggle, but to unify it. We call for unity to become stronger.
As our base we oppose the militarization of the border and any racist group that acts in any way oppresses, abuses, humiliates or threatens any immigrants on the border or anywhere else. We emphasize the following three principles:
***UNIFY
With the understanding that their is a great number of organizations, nationally as well as internationally opposed to the acts of violence and hostility against immigrants in this Country, we call for the unification, communication and solidarity amongst ourselves to make this struggle stronger and victorious.
***RESIST
It is extremely important to acknowledge that immigrants have been submitted to unscrupulous situations though out time. As we well know, immigrants are the back bone of the capitalist economical system. With out us the system would not, could not survive, yet immigrants have been submitted to acts of discrimination, humiliation, death and trickery. It is now time for the "Sleeping Giant" to be awakened. Through protest, writings, art or any other means, GENTE UNIDA invites all to participate in resisting against the continuation and elevation of such acts towards immigrants.
***FLOURISH
The necessity for immigrants to arise is evident. It is extremely important for us, all which are concerned with the maltreatment of immigrants, to focus on the economical, spiritual and intellectual advancement of immigrants. For such reasons, GENTE UNIDA emphasizes the promotion and importance of informing and making the communities participants of all actions towards their advancement and deliverance.
As our first initiative we convey all interested parties that solidarity with the cause to attend a protest/ rally against the violence directed towards immigrants crossing the border. Such protest/ rally will take place on Sunday, July 2 at 11am at the corner of Park and Hall,San Ysidro
In the same manner, within the spirit of unity we invite any individual and organization concerning with the issues addressed in this memo to be present at the meetings GENTE UNIDA conducts. The meetings take place every Saturday at 11 am at the Chicano Park Kiosk. Currently GENTE UNIDA is in the process of fortifying the organization of the July second rally, and in the process of structuring a plan of action against the groups that are planning to dwell in the border this summer.
