The march had started, and ended before I even had the time to grasp the sensation of freedom, and solidarity. Everyone began to scatter around the park, and slowly began to forget about it. As soon as a thought of dissillusionment, began to cloud my head, I heard someone say:"TAKE THE BORDER!!"

This guy, grabbed a hold of the megaphone, and began to say "THIS ISNT A PICNIC!! WE DIDNT COME HERE TO JUST SIT AROUND AFTERWARDS, LETS TAKE BACK THE BORDER, IF THEY CAN DO IT ON THE OTHER SIDE... THEN WE CAN DO IT ON THIS SIDE TOO!!!! If you want to march with us, join us here, and we organize it!
As soon as I heard that, I jumped up and joined the other 4 people with my friends, and began to rally up the people. At first we got many negative comments, such as " Are you stupid? You are going to get these people arrested!!" But we left it at that, and began to spread the word that we were going to march to the border. Two other persons joined us, and as we looked at our poor group, we decided we could atleast block the walk area to cross into tijuana. So we got up our black and red flags and with our megaphone we started chanting... WHOS BORDER? OUR BORDER.... WHOS BORDER? OUR BORDER....
Surprisingly when I glimpsed back, a mass of people had joined us in our march, we J walked our way to the other side of the street, stopping the cars. And more and more people started to join us. It was a thrilling sensation that I got. We had gone from maybe 6 originally, to maybe about 100 or so. We ignored the cops, and kept on marching to the border, chanting ever so lively. "AL GOBIERNO NO KEREMOS...L@S OBRER@S AL PODER!! (WE DONT WANT THE GOVERNMENT..WORKERS TO POWER!!) "WHOS STREETS ... OUR STREETS"!!
As we came nearer to the border, I could tell the Police officers were puzzled at the situation, but still we ignored them and didnt tell them what the plan was. As soon as we got to the cross walk ...a comrade jumped the little fence and began walking into the cars and trying to stop them from going in... I jumped and joined him...and before I knew it, more people got the hint and embraced our plan. We formed a somewhat of a human chain, and started to chant once more, this time with out the megaphone, because they had taken it back. Our voice was already jacked up, but we made the intent to get the people going, once more to chant more loudly, and boldly. Cars were beeping, Cops began to get more irritated, but we kept in line.
WE HAD TAKEN THE BORDER BACK!

2nd march

It was indeed awesome; spontaneous and unorganized in the best way possible. The strongest aspect of the march (in my opinion) was it's ability to be organic and not held down to a set plan. We were able to keep the cops guessing about our destinations and intent, they constantly were looking for who was "leading" the march to find out where we were going so they could be there ahead of time and lead us, but they were foiled time and again.

Had this march happened along with the earlier march, we definitely could have held the border for much longer. Cops and border patrol stood aside as we sat in the middle of the lanes, trying to force cars in line to make U-turns in order to not be stuck there. Unfortunately we weren't able to hold there for long (not due to police pressure as far as I know), at which point we moved to the walkthrough gates and then down to the border patrol exit by the trolley stop.

While the lack of a set plan was great for keeping people able to stay excited about moving on and essentially marching wherever we wanted, I think it was sort of a setback as far as what the goals were. But then, the medium was also the message, and in that way it was great!
