Here are some photos from freEtech 2007, which happened yesterday. We had many fruitful discussions about inclusion and exclusion in technology along lines of race, class, color, gender and sexual preference. We also had great skillshares including an Intro to Linux and a Linux installfest, Using drupal for community organizing and independent media and hacktivism. Add your comments below about what you thought about the day!

The aftermath
The aftermath

Next time, we'd like to:

- make it longer! we could've easliy done two days and one night of documentaries!
- schedule translation so that translators can schedule the workshops they want to attend
- do more community outreach! we had a handful of people come from city heights, but next time we shuld have a lot more!

Coming out of this are a few City Heights Free Skool projects. One is to have open computer lab with the borderlands Hacklab so that people can come use the comptuers and ask any question. Also, a handful of women want to get together for a GIMP/Photoshop flyer making skillshare. Also, a few people expressed interest in doing more craft and sewing skillshares and I'm presonally interested in bringing together Hacktivism and Craftivism, hacking with scissors and keyboards!

Overall, it was a great v0.9 of freEtech. next year, lets take a few months to plan it and make it even better!

Please Don't Feed the Trolls

Wikipedia defines an Internet Troll as: "either a person who sends messages on the Internet hoping to entice other users into angry or fruitless responses, or a message sent by such a person." San Diego IMC strives to provide both a grassroots media resource as well as a forum for people to contribute to a meaningful discussion about local issues. Please, when posting comments, be respectful of others and ignore those trying to interrupt or discourage meaningful discourse. Thank you.
