Press Conference and Funeral for Academic Freedom
Thursday, 12:00 noon
@ UCSD on library walk in front of the Chancellor's office

Join us in letting the UCSD administration know that it cannot fire it's
teaching assistants for political reasons!

Help us continue the pressure on the administration to rehire the
dismissed TA's!

Let's make sure the Chancellor knows that this issue is not going away
just because spring quarter is ending!

The Lumumba-Zapata Coalition is holding a press conference and funeral
for academic freedom this Thursday at 12pm. This event has been
organized in response to the dismissal of two TAs from the Dimensions
of Culture program. At their grievance hearing with UCSD labor
relations last Friday, UCSD administration admitted that the TAs were
NOT dismissed because of their teaching performance, but for their
critique of changes to the DOC program. This violation of academic
freedom & free speech cannot stand!

Following the press conference, join us in front of the Chancellor's
office to let her and the UCSD community know about the repression of
academic freedom and free speech at UCSD. People will have the
opportunity to sign a banner that we will hang outside the UCSD
administration complex in protest of the mistreatment of these two
TAs. Come out and sign the banner between 12-3pm.
