Biotech Conferences in SD and Philly
sd indymedia,
| San Diego is such a huge hotbed of biotech, people really need to start a movement against it right here!
"San Diego biotechnology executives will gather Tuesday for the annual CalBio life science conference with R&D on their minds: regulators and dough." - a recent Union Tribune article |
From June 19 to 22, 2005, a powerful lobbying consortium, the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), is holding its annual international convention in downtown Philadelphia. And while more than 10,000 biotech industry leaders gather to plan the expansion of their corporate control over life itself, grassroots activists will once again converge to confront them and expose the truth that the experimental science they call “innovation” really spells “Biodevastation” for human health, food security, local autonomy and biodiversity.

Huge Vivisection Conference Coming to San Diego
Animal Advocates,
A HUGE VIVISECTION CONFERENCE IS COMING TO SAN DIEGO
Join San Diego Animal Advocates to Protest March 31 - April 5, 2005!
Speak out for animals in laboratories: From March 31 to April 5, 2005, the 35th Congress of the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS) will meet at the downtown Convention Center in San Diego, California. This massive summit of animal researchers includes six member organizations—the American Physiological Society, the Society for Neuroscience, the Microcirculatory Society, the Society of General Physiologists, the Biomedical Engineering Society, and the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology—many of which contribute to the suffering of millions of animals each year in U.S. laboratories. The conference will also host booths by hundreds of vendors of animal research supplies and torture devices.
And we’ll be there! San Diego Animal Advocates is calling on California activists to join us in leafleting and protesting researchers at the convention, and to help educate the public in downtown San Diego and through the local media on the horrors of animal research. Will you be there, too?
