Last July 9th the Hague-based International Court of Justice ruled that Israel's separation barrier is illegal by standards of international law, and recommended its demolition.

Israeli government answered through its Justice Minister, Yosef Lapid, who declared that The Hague court is integrated by European judges that don’t like his country and that they will only obey the decision of the Israeli Supreme Court, that recently order a change on the path of the “security fence” as a humanitarian measure.

Irish American political activist Ken O'Keefe is on hunger strike in an Israeli jail whilst fighting deportation after being arrested for attempting to enter Gaza on Thursday. Last year, the former US Marine and Gulf War veteran returned to Iraq with more than 500 Human Shields. After entering Gaza via a settlement, he was detained by 10 Israeli soldiers whilst walking along the beach into the Palestinian area.

Over 40 people turned out Friday afternoon, May 21, for a vigil outside the Federal Building in downtown San Diego to protest Israel's ongoing campaign of genocide against the Palestinians in the occupied territories, particularly the recent murder of over 40 people and the bulldozing of hundreds of homes in Rafah in the Gaza Strip. Participants, many of them of Palestinian ancestry, not only called for Israel's withdrawal to pre-1967 borders but also for the controversial "right of return" of Palestinian refugees to Israel itself.

Students Stage Sleep Strike for DREAM Act

“We’re not going to sleep until these students are allowed to dream.” That’s how local student activists Angel Hernandez and Rubi Aguilar explained the four-day “sleep strike” they mounted outside the Federal Building at Front and Broadway in downtown San Diego April 8-11 in support of the DREAM (Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors) Act to allow the foreign-born children of undocumented immigrants to obtain legal status to attend college or join the military. A rally and press conference Saturday, April 17, noon, outside the San Diego City College library at 12th and “B” Street downtown, will organize further public support for the DREAM Act.
