Translation help needed for Femicide Doc
onto and steev,
"For more than a decade, the cities of Chihuahua and Juarez, near the US-Mexico border, have been killing fields for young women, the site of over 400 unsolved femicides. Despite the horrific nature of these crimes, authorities at all levels exhibit indifference, and there is strong evidence that some officials may be involved. Impunity and corruption has permitted the criminals, whoever they are, to continue committing these acts, knowing there will be no consequences."
- from http://www.mexicosolidarity.org/Juarez%20and%20Chihuahua/
This is a call-out for anyone interested to help translate some clips from Spanish->English for an indymedia documentary about the Femicides in Chihuahua and Juarez.

San Ysidro Says No to the Minutemen!
Jonathan,
Saturday protesters gathered in the streets of San Ysidro to raise their voices against the minutemen and groups like the minutemen. Protesters shouted in support of the rights of all people. These people came to the streets to let everyone - from bystanders, to Schwarzenegger - know that our state and county won't be taken over by a vigilante group.

John Earl,
Minutemen founder Jim Gilchrist says that deporting 20 million "illegal" Mexican immigrants will start a revolution in Mexico and redistribute the wealth to the poor so that they will stay home. Judge to Hear First Amendment Objections
Michael Cardenas,
Today, myself, Danae and David Agranoff went into the Grand Jury room and refused to answer questions based on our First Amendment rights to free association and right to privacy.
We were then sent to see Judge Gonzalez at 4:15pm. The prosecution made the request that the hearings be sealed, so only one witness at a time spoke to the judge. In the courtroom were the two prosecutors, our lawyers, Danae, myself and David, and about 10 FBI agents. Myself, Danae and our lawyers were asked to leave while the judge heard Jeremy Warren's motions.

Equating Migrant People with Terrorists
lotu5,
The US, Canada and Mexico are putting the final touches on an executive agreement called the North American Alliance for Prosperity and Security which is a combined agreement on terrorism laws and economic laws, but it also contains sections dealing with immigration. Strangely, this is being kept very quiet in the United States despite the fact that Bush, Fox and Martin agreed in principle to the agreement in March and are continuing to have meetings to iron out the details.
