ALL OUT ON SEPT 16! MINUTEMEN ABAJO!!
s t a r r,

DOWN WITH the Minutemen and their bretheren, the Border Patrol Auxiliary!

Fools from all over the Southwest are camping out in Campo to act out their sick, racist, Rambo fantasies against our Mexican brothers and sisters. We MUST stop them!

Every night in Campo, human rights activists are needed to maintain our encampment and prevent the Minutemen, the BPA, (or whatever the fuck these idiots are calling themselves these days) from threatening migrant workers.

If you can't make it out there during the week, head out to Campo this Saturday, July 23, to provide reinforcements. Contact Gente Unida or San Diego Indy Media for directions.

Also, there is a training session tonight for legal observers, who are desperately needed. Thurs, 6:00 p.m., Chicano Federation.

Two humanitarians deny federal govt. plea
jessica lee - Arizona Indymedia Center,

No More Deaths volunteers deny federal govt. plea offer No More Deaths volunteers, Shanti Sellz and Daniel Strauss, publicly denied the United States’ plea bargain during a press conference on Thursday. Lawyers representing Sellz and Strauss say that the two humanitarians, who were arrested July 9 by U.S. Border Patrol while aiding severely ill undocumented migrants, will not plead guilty for actions they say are not against the law. A hearing will be held Friday, June 22 at the U.S. Federal Courthouse in downtown Tucson. The No More Deaths’ “Flood the Desert with Volunteers” campaign, in response to the arrests, will begin Sunday at 1pm with volunteer trainings.

anti-vigilante pressure continues in campo
aymara,

human rights advocates are still going strong in campo! although the numbers aren't as high as this past weekend, a handful of dedicated campers continue to stake their claim in the desert and continue to explore tactics that disrupt the vigilantes from the "work" they claim to be out there to do.

a critique and a plea for help at the border
lotu5,

I was at the "Stop the Vigilantes" camp against the minutemen this weekend and I noticed something that seems to be a pattern here in San Diego...

If you think this is not your problem, I beg to differ. This is a call to all people in San Diego working for social justice to look at the huge injustice being committed against migrants every day in our county and do something about it.

“Lavender and Red”: Leslie Feinberg Speaks
Mark Gabrish Conlan/Zenger’s Newsmagazine,

Transgender Lesbian activist and author Leslie Feinberg spoke at the International Action Center in San Diego July 17 and discussed her series "Lavender and Red," published in "Workers' World" newspaper. She argued that not only does the U.S. need a socialist revolution but that racism, sexism, anti-Queer prejudices and all other forms of oppression need to be dealt with now, not "after the revolution," to build the unity needed to win. Feinberg also discussed the so-called "REAL ID Act" and how it will hurt Transgender people and women who've fled abusive relationships, as well as the undocumented immigrants it deliberately targeted.

Minutemen Threaten to Shoot Protesters
The Buenas Noches Brigade,

The video we have submitted with this press release shows us attempting to engage the California Minutemen in a lighthearted, humorous manner and their response. Because we were more than 300 yards away, there are limited visuals, but you can clearly hear threats such as “you come down here and you will be engaged in a firefight”, “...I will shoot your motherfucking ass,” and “you wanna play, let's play motherfucker.”

Campo - 150 March in Support of Human Rights
Jonathan / Onto,

This just in from Campo... About 150 people traveled to the desert from all parts of California to support the human rights of immigrants. The group gathered in Campo this weekend to let the Border Patrol Auxiliary know that most Californians are against their vigilantly patrols of the border.

The Border Patrol Auxiliary is a spin off of the Minute Men. They had planned to meet at the VFW today to plan their vigilante actions. When the marchers reached the VFW the Minute Men were nowhere to be found. Apparently they met elsewhere to avoid being faced with how people feel about their actions.
