Sherman Heights Demands an End to Racist Immigration Policies
lotu5,

On Thursday, August 26, 2005, a community forum was held for the members of the Sherman Heights community to address their proposals and demands to congresspeople, representatives and members of the state assembly.

The forum, held in Spanish with English translation available was a moving demonstration of the many diverse issues that come together around immigration policies. Speakers repeated throughout the night their demand to end the racist policies that give them fewer rights that others.

Only a handful of representatives even sent representatives. Those that showed up heard a long list of demands focusing on one main issue: Vida Digna, a dignified life for the entire latino community.

The October 12th Collective
Guerilla Science,

“They [the Indians] do not bear arms, and do not know them, for I showed them a sword, they took it by the edge and cut themselves out of ignorance. They have no iron. Their spears are made of cane…. They would make fine servants…. With fifty men we could subjugate them all and make them do whatever we want.”

Mobilize to San Diego, Against All Borders, Sept 16-18
The o.r.g.a.n.i.c. Collective,

We call on people everywhere to converge on the San Diego/Tijuana region
and the Mexicali/Calexico region of the Mexico/US border in order to
stop the vigilante operation being planned there by the Friends of the
Border Patrol, beginning on September 16th. We also call on those who
cannot travel to these areas to organize solidarity actions in their
home towns rejecting the Minutemen, Borders and the racist ideologies
that Borders are built on.

Our goal for Sep. 16th-18th is to take action and directly shut down the
Minutemen operations.

German García / courtesy of The Monitor August 19, 2005 | DOUGLAS, Arizona -- Two immigrants illegally detained and assaulted when they crossed the United States border two years ago now own a 70-acre ranch of one of their attackers.

Gov's Sharpen Attacks on Oppressed Immigrants
Alex Gould,

On Friday August 12, Arizona governor Bill Richardson, a Democrat, declared a state of emergency in the counties bordering Mexico. On Monday, Janet Napolitano, the Democratic governor of Arizona, declared a similar emergency in her state. The California legislature is debating a similar declaration. Usually associated with disasters such as floods and earthquakes, these state of emergency declarations are being issued to get 3.25 million dollars in federal funds to increase the militarized policing of the US-Mexico border.

Why FBP really chose Sept 16
Chuy,

Stop telling lies when you do nothing to help. Mexicanos need trabajos en Mexico, not agua in the desert. FBP picked Sept 16 and is doing more about Mexico's slavery of our gente than you mentirosos. That's what Sr. Ramirez talks about on his site and on tv. Open your eyes and read it yourself its there. Or you getting some of the coyote' dinero?

Poetic Justice for Minuteman Racists
To quote Nelson Muntz: Ha-Ha!,

Spent shells litter the ground at what is left of the firing range, and camouflage outfits still hang in a storeroom. Just a few months ago, this ranch was known as Camp Thunderbird, the headquarters of a paramilitary group that promised to use force to keep illegal immigrants from sneaking across the border with Mexico. Now, in a turnabout, the 70-acre property about two miles from the border is being given to two immigrants whom the group caught trying to enter the United States illegally.

Drive the White Supremacists our of Moorpark!
san diego anarchist,

riot cops in carlsbad at the racist, anti-immigration forum there Andy Ramirez, head of Friends of the Border Patrol, will be speaking at another forum to spout his anti-Mexican, anti-migrant hatred this weekend. The city of Moorpark has responded by charging him a $5k security deposit. Based on what we saw in Carlsbad, $5k isn't nearly nough to cover the costs of protecting these racists!

No Border Encuentro - Aug 27-28 - Update!
the o.r.g.a.n.i.c. collective,

No Border Encuentro Flyer (no)Border Encuentro, August 27-28th, San Diego

Hola todos. Crazy times we find ourselves in. Millions of people forced to live underground, more than 3200 dead and tens of thousands more incapacitated crossing the border. Communities and families split by the wall. As if the border and its myriad forms of violence were not enough, racist paramilitaries are openly organizing across the US and finding enthusiastic partners in politicians and corporate press outlets alike. And then there are the numerous Neo-nazi groups crawling out from beneath their rocks, thrilled with the “Trojan Horse” of growing anti-migrant sentiment. . .

Complete Schedule, with dates, times and locations below

Anti-Immigration Forum Protested – Riot Police Add Tension
sdimc volunteer,

On Thursday, August 11, 2005 protesters and anti-immigrant activists turned out to a forum. The big names (James Gilchrist and Rep. Tom Tancredo) and potential conflict brought out media and the riot police. Although the corporate media downplays events when no outright mayhem ensues, there is a lot that can be learned from this event.

This summer has seen increasingly bold shows at anti-immigrant demonstrations. The violence against immigrants has increased with gun carrying minutemen patrolling the border. Now the leaders of this anti-immigrant movement are bringing their message of hate into our communities to breed fear and distrust among naive conservatives.

If you think that this is just your everyday "freedom of speech" issue look at the police presence - 150 cops in riot gear!? When has anything in Carlsbad ever had riot police?

Opposition Grows, Police Defend Racist Forum
lotu5,

Upon arriving, there was a huge line of people to get inside, maybe 250, and a small group of about 30 protesters. This was at 5:30. Apparently the right is better about being on time. As the night went on, the numbers evened out and the police presence increased. Most of the night was just a tense shouting match between rabid, racist patriots and a diverse group of ethnicities.

The Defense of Our Nation Begins at Our Borders
SENATOR BILL MORROW invites you to a Public Forum

For a frank discussion on how Illegal Immigration affects Health Care, Homeland Security, Education, Economy & the Environment with:

*CONGRESSMAN TOM TANCREDO Chairman, Congressional Immigration Reform Caucus *James W. Gilchrist Founder, MinuteMan Project *Dr. Madeleine Cosman, Esq. Pulitzer Prize Nominee, Medical Lawyer & Health Care Expert *Pete Nunez Former Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Treasury, U.S. Attorney * Roger Hedgecock, Emcee

Background on this Forum: Originally, it was called for by State Senator Bill Morrow as a safe, public space for republicans, neo-cons and community members to get out their fears of the 'other' by scapegoating migrants. But with all the bad press the Minutemen have been getting and the violence associated with them, the Carlsbad school chief canceled it. The neo-cons and closet racists got mad, pressuring Bill Morrow not to back down. So he sued the school superintendant!. And now, the klan meeting, err, I mean, Town Meeting is back on

God Bless Freedom. See you there
