Yesterday activists with Greenpeace launched a banner-deploying blimp at the international headquarters of Hewlett-Packard in Palo Alto, California. Supplementing this action was a microradio station broadcasting on 91.3 FM, which told nearby listeners to "contact HP CEO Mark Hurd" about the company's use of toxic chemicals in its products, when safer alternative raw materials abound. It's nice to see the onsite action-based broadcast model is alive and well.

A team of students from UCSD is headed to New Orleans to Louisiana to volunteer with the Common Ground Health Clinic. They will be on campus, on library walk, taking donations all week. Below is a message I received from them this week.

About Common Ground: Common Ground Collective formed in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, to provide immediate aid and long-term solidarity along the Gulf Coast. We are a local, community-run organization offering mutual aid and support to New Orleans communities that have been historically neglected and underserved.
