America Is Bankrupt
Mike (in Tokyo) Rogers,

09/12/05 "Lewrockwell" -- -- A recent trip to the United States – after a three-year absence – showed me how far the country and its people have deteriorated in a short period of time. Americans are bankrupt. They are bankrupt at every possible level: spiritually, morally, educationally. The country’s economy has deteriorated to the level of a Philippines or a Thailand (and I mean no disrespect to the Philippines or Thailand – I love those places).

Interview with Bill Siegel, Weather Underground
small WORLD Podcast,

Interview with Bill Siegel, co-director and co-producer of The Weather Underground, the Oscar-nominated 2002 feature-length documentary that explores the rise and fall of this radical movement as former members speak candidly about the idealistic passion that drove them to "bring the war home" and the trajectory that placed them on the F.B.I.'s most wanted list.

A Call For Solidarity
David Agranoff,

David mailed me this statement asking for solidarity and asked that I post it on IndyMedia. There are only a few spelling errors/typos in David's letter because he had to write this in a bit of a hurry, but I will try to make them coherent while keeping as much of David's writing in it's original form as possible. Hopefully I don't add my own typos as I type this out.

San Diegans Report Back from Sheehan's Camp
Mark Gabrish Conlan/Zenger's Newsmagazine,

Eight San Diegans who'd gone down to Crawford, Texas to support Cindy Sheehan in her demand that President Bush tell her to her face what noble cause her son died for in Iraq reported back on September 3. Following their presentations there was a discussion on what the peace movement should do next. Many of the speakers tied their remarks to Hurricane Katrina and said Iraq and Katrina both reflected the skewed priorities and awesome incompetence of the Bush administration.

Protest Bush in San Diego
sd indymedia,

Two events are planned for Bush's visit to San Diego:

Candlelight Vigil: President Bush, Our loved ones are dying in an unjust war. WHY?
Monday Evening, August 29, 2005 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM
WHERE: On Coronado Island along Ocean Blvd. Near Flora Ave and Rh Dana Place. (Directions: Take Coronado Bridge to Orange Ave. Left on Orange Ave. to Rh Dana Place. Right on Rh Dana Place - becomes Ocean Blvd.. Vigil will be on Ocean Blvd. along the beach.) No parking will be permitted along Ocean Blvd. on Monday and Tuesday. Carpool if you can and park as near the Hotel Del as you can.

Demonstration at NAS NORTH ISLAND MAIN GATE on Alameda. Main Gate on Alameda, Coronado, Tuesday, August 30, 6 a.m. Gates will open at 6:00 a.m. for the 10,000 "invited guests" and the ceremony will take place at 8:00 a.m. True to form, this will be a harbor-side event so protestors can be kept far from this location. However, the road leading to North Island in Coronado would be a good protest location. Since parking in Coronado is scarce and parking laws are enforced, the North County Coalition for Peace and Justice will be using public transportation to get there. Directions from North County are below; San Diego people should check with the bus company to figure out best route for themselves to arrive at demonstration location: NAS NORTH ISLAND MAIN GATE on Alameda.

Dahr Jamail's Report on Iraq, 7/29/05
Mark Gabrish Conlan/Zenger's Newsmagazine,

The predominantly Queer San Diego Democratic Club was unable to agree on a candidate to endorse in the special election for City Council District 2. Lorena Gonzalez, the only person of color among the major candidates, came within one vote of the 60 percent needed for the club's endorsement and was ultimately the only candidate rated acceptable by the members.

bruce,

Lamberth's ruling, the Justice Department complained, described the Interior Department to be a "dinosaur - the morally and culturally oblivious hand-me-down of a disgracefully racist and imperialist government that should have been buried a century ago, the last pathetic outpost of the indifference and anglocentrism we thought we had left behind."

NY Times publishes Firemens' tales of Terror
researcher,

The brave firemen tell of terror on the infamous day. The REAL TERROR IS THAT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED, but wasn't by top governmental officials . FBI knew when Oklahoma, WTC 1 and 911 was going to happen and only a few VIPs were warned. They knew about who the terrorists were, and some are still walking around today! However the COVER-UP is unravelling, and indictme ts have been issued to some PANC members. Abrahams is out on bail, others should start packing. The DSM memo, the Rove leak and the Presiden's insane loyalty to Rove are making this happen! The President was almost killed the other day, in a near miss at the airport. Is someone, like the VP part of PANC tryng to get him??

Which Democracy?
bruce,

Democracy means people’s power. It means participating in the decisions that affect ones life, as the New Left put it back in the 1960s. It is the vision of popular participation in collective decision making about collective action for a common good.

Selling Out Our Country
reposted,

author: Doug Thompson
My, my, the rabid right got their anal sphincters twisted up in all kinds of knots when I suggested they were traitors to their country for supporting the treasonous acts of George W. Bush.

Didn't see them getting so damned self-righteous when they called liberals, Democrats and anti-war protestors unpatriotic for suggesting Bush's decision to invade Iraq was, at the very least, a serious mistake in judgment.
