Ohio Recount: The Recount That Wasn't,
Steve Leser,
I have been attempting to raise awareness regarding the recount that had been going on in Ohio from December 13th until December 28th. I thought it important that all groups have a chance to have their say regarding the Ohio election and its subsequent recount, including the Ohio Secretary of State, county election boards, and more and that the public get all this information so that each reader could make up their own mind regarding how the election was conducted in Ohio. It was my sincere hope that any thought of fraud or conspiracy would be cleared up one way or the other via the recount process. If the recount had been conducted in strict adherence to Ohio state law, I have no doubt that this would have happened.

Texas to Florida: White House-linked clandest
Wayne Madsen Online Journal Contrib,
The manipulation of computer voting machines in the recent presidential election and the funding of programmers who were involved in the operation are tied to an intricate web of shady off-shore financial trusts and companies, shady espionage operatives, Republican Party politicians close to the Bush family, and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) contract vehicles.

Democrat Senators on the Hot Seat...Again
DAVE LINDORFF Counterpunch.com,
Perhaps the most powerful moment in Michael Moore's film "Fahrenheit 9-11" was the stony silence in the hall of the joint session of Congress as a line of African- American and other non-white representatives stood up and pleaded for just one senator to issue an official challenge to the Florida electoral college delegation and its vote in favor of candidate George Bush. This Thursday, we are destined to have a repeat of that dramatic event.

Edgar J. Steele,
We get the government we deserve, it is said. What, exactly, did I do to deserve this? And I'm a conservative, too. Imagine how the liberals must feel. For every person I know who voted for Bush, I know four who voted for Kerry or a third-party candidate, not to mention another six who didn't vote at all! But, then, I run in some unusual circles. Even so...

Boxer “Seriously Considers” Election Challenge
Mark Gabrish Conlan,
U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer is “seriously considering” joining a challenge by several members of the House of Representatives to the results of the 2004 Presidential election, her press secretary, David Sandretti, said Wednesday morning, January 5. Local activists in San Diego held sit-ins at Boxer’s office Monday and Tuesday, January 3 and 4, to persuade her to join the challenge.

Over 200 turn out to Demand that San Diego Count Every Vote
lotus at indymedia dot org,
An energetic, diverse crowd of over 200 people turned out Sunday to demand that every vote be counted, in the Mayoral and Presidential elections. One speaker mentioned how he had volunteered for the recount and for ballots containing only an X or a check for Dick Murphy, the votes were counted and filled in by vote counters, while for the 5,547 votes containing the name "Donna Frye" and no bubble, the votes were not counted. Dick Murphy's victory was with a margin of 2,108 votes.
The speakers also talked about how the bubble law is a state law that's being used to override local law, and how the city council has the ability to "become a judge" and count every vote. Also, a petition was passed around for the local election and also to demand that Barbara Boxer be the one Senator to contest the electoral college vote which is to be certified on January 6th. A number of members of the House of Representatives have agreed to help contest the vote, but no Senator has come forward, just as in 2000.

UPDATE: 1/3 5:36pm - A sit-in took place at Barbara Boxer's office to demand that she block the certification of the Electoral College votes. This action will continue tomorrow. More here

George W. Bush apparently is wearing a medical device for "persons at risk of cardiac arrest." It is a LifeVest wearable defibrillator. He started using it sometime after his January 2002 fainting spell, which was attributed to choking. Based on photos showing him wearing the device, one can conclude the fainting was due to atrial fibrillation (AF), which his father also had.

From Twin Cities IMC:Stolen Election-Lost Democracy: Report From Ohio
The evidence is mounting that this election, just as the last one, had been stolen. What makes this one even more stunning is the brazen nature in which it had been stolen. Add to this the nature of how it had been stolen, with the possible use of manipulated machines as well as the silence from the media and the leadership of the Democratic Party. Many observers have noted the common feeling that the democratic process is slipping away right in front of us.

Same-Sex Marriage Fight Continues in S.D.
Mark Gabrish Conlan/Zenger’s Newsmagazine,
Extending civil marriage to Gay and Lesbian couples in the U.S. may have looked like a dead issue after November 2, but marriage equality activists and Gay and Lesbian couples themselves are not giving up. As part of a statewide campaign, Marriage Equality California (MECA) put on an event at San Diego State University December 6 that included films and speakers about the issue, clearly meant to rally the troops and mobilize grass-roots campaigns around two bills recently introduced into the California legislature.

San Diegan's Demand: Count Every Vote!!
jonathan,
Despite the rain this afternoon, several San Diegans turned out to protest for voters' rights. Locally citizens are calling for a complete count of the votes cast in the Mayoral Election. At a national level these activists are hopeful that a recount in Ohio and New Mexico will be occur unfettered by Republican obstructionists a la Florida 2000. Several of the protests signs added a international perspective by referring to the voter activism expressed in the Ukraine. If you missed today's rally there are more events scheduled on December 9th and 13th.
