Wed., February 23rd The Take 7pm - donation
In suburban Buenos Aires, thirty unemployed auto-parts workers walk into their idle factory, roll out sleeping mats and refuse to leave. All they want is to re-start the silent machines. But this simple act - the take - has the power to turn the globalization debate on its head. Armed only with slingshots and an abiding faith in shop-floor democracy, the workers face off against the bosses, bankers and a whole system that sees their beloved factories as nothing more than scrap metal for sale. With The Take, director Avi Lewis, one of Canada's most outspoken journalists, and writer Naomi Klein, author of the international bestseller No Logo, champion a radical economic manifesto for the 21st century

“Oil Factor” Explores Motives in Terror War - French-born documentary filmmaker Gerard Ungerman brought his latest documentary, The Oil Factor: Behind the War on Terror, to the Peace and Democracy Task Force of the First Unitarian-Universalist Church in Hillcrest January 11 for a rare pre-theatrical release screening.

On 2/8 free ourselves from Copyright tyranny
James,
This could be a seminal moment in technology liberty
Eyes on the Prize is the most important documentary ever made about the Civil Rights Movement--but copyright restrictions have kept it from the public for the past 10 years. We can't let that continue. On February 8th help us bring this film back to a nationwide audience. Find the film in a library and organize a screening in your city or town.
On Feb 8th we have a chance to free ourselves from the tyranny of copyright law which prevents incredible material like this from being seen and distributed by the people who created it. The entity which holds the rights to the song "Happy Birthday" can prevent work like this from being distributed and that is a crime.

imcista,
San Diego, January 20th 2005 – After the SDCPJ rally and the Ground Zero Players Cacelorazo in downtown San Diego, hundreds of people stepped off the sidewalk at Broadway to begin the Reclaim the Streets party. From 7-10pm, people moved up and down 4th ave, circling around, facing off lines of cops, sometimes outmaneuvering them, other times walking right into them traps. Bikers, musicians, jugglers, dancers and more filled the streets with life in direct contrast to the contained commerical atmosphere of clubs and shops all around them. Counter-Inaugural Action Coverage on Indymedia
San Diego Indymedia,
In the days to come, the United States is going to see the coronation of a President who was elected with so much fraud that both the Senate and the House of Representatives contested his election. Regardless of the illegitimacy of the vote, millions of people absolutely reject the Bush administration and its policies, and many people reject the policies of the Democratic party and the entire system of representative democracy and capitalism.
On January 19th, the night before the inauguration, San Diego Indymedia will be throwing a counter-inaugural film night with footage from the RNC protests in New York in 2004 and with a short film from the 2000 Inaugural protests in DC. More info here.
We ask you to become the media in the coming days. Indymedia is a place for community access to media, and we can't do it without you! Please submit your stories, photos, video and audio to our website by clicking on the "Publish" button in the upper right hand corner, or just go here.
As the massive demonstrations, marches, direct actions and acts of civil disobedience unfold, you can follow them on indymedia in a variety of ways.
Check us.indymedia.org for news of the DC actions to stop the inauguration.
Watch this site to see the latest breaking news about the many actions happening here.
Listen to radioActiveradio.org for up to the second live coverage from the streets.
