Ward Connerly, the man who brought us Proposition 209, has until April 19 to qualify his latest brainchild for the ballot. Called the Racial Privacy Initiative, its real purpose is to prevent state government from ever collecting data showing racial profiling or discrimination against people of color in public education, employment or contracting. Opponents say this initiative is so potentially devastating to civil-rights law that people shouldnt sign ANY initiative petitions until the April 19 deadline because it could be the Racial Privacy Initiative under another name."
