Earthday
Jim Carter,
|
In Washington DC as many as 100,000 or more marched for peace and justice in the world, in San Francisco tens of thousands marched for the same thing. Many in the progressive community in San Diego who couldn't make it to one of those events went to the Earthday celibration in Balboa Park. (article 1)

20,000 March for Peace in San Francisco, April 20
Peacenik,
|
On a breezy spring day in San Francisco, April 20, 2002, some 20,000 or more people came from the Western states to march for peace and most importantly, to march for peace in a free Palestine. By making a free Palestine a priority, our peace movement has made a major qualitative advance as it has clearly cast its lot with the dispossessed, the disinherited and the disenfranchised, in a word, the workingclass, which is the class that has the power to make fundamental change as it is labor that creates all wealth.

Queers, Outlaws, Art and Censorship: Richard Meyer's History
Mark Gabrish Conlan/Zenger's Newsmagazine,
|
Art historian Richard Meyer was working on his Ph.D. when the controversies over Robert Mapplethorpe and the National Endowment for the Arts began in 1990. US Playing Russian Roulette With Palestinians
Sam Bahour,
|
The United States of America is organizing another international conference in the Middle East. This one, sadly, emerges as a result of the destruction of Palestinian society by Israel. By doing so, the US is setting itself up for a political and security failure, yet again. The first US failure was called Oslo, where the Palestinian leadership was lured into a US-sponsored 'peace process' that has led to the intentional obliteration of Palestinian cities and dismantling of Palestinian leadership and the Palestinian Authority.
