Revolution and Sexuality
rosa,
2changetheworld.info has been the site of a rich and candid exchange over revolution and sexuality--including much debate over the new position taken by the Revolutionary Communist Party on homosexuality. The sister who volunteered to make these excerpts wrote: "As I thought, I found doing this difficult. The posts on sexuality are long, thoughtful and it's a varied subject." The excerpts we chose focus mainly on the issue of same-gender sexuality and will give you a sense of how that debate is developing.

Police Encounters With Medical Pot Users Increase (version 2)
Mark Gabrish Conlan/Zenger's Newsmagazine,
San Diego’s medical marijuana users are facing an increasing number of run-ins with police. At least two patients were raided during May: one lost her son’s plants during an attack on a community garden, and another was threatened with arrest by a uniformed police officer who later called back and told her the threat had been a “joke.” At the most recent meeting of the city’s Medical Marijuana/Cannabis Task Force long-time activist Steve McWilliams asked that police lieutenant César Solis, current head of the narcotics division, be removed from the task force and replaced with a representative from the police chief’s office.

S.D. Medical Marijuana Users Demand Compassion from Police
Mark Gabrish Conlan/Zenger's Newsmagazine,
A subcommittee of the San Diego City Council met June 19 to accept the latest report from the city’s Medical Marijuana/Cannabis Task Force. The report was unexpectedly controversial. Supporters of medical marijuana use attacked the police department for interpreting California’s medical-marijuana law narrowly and continuing to raid patients’ gardens and destroy their plants. Opponents, mainly staff members or volunteers with drug-prevention organizations, accused sponsors of medical-marijuana legislation of using it as a Trojan horse for drug legalization.

Victory for Reclaim the Streets at Police Review Commission (Berkeley)
Jason Meggs,
Important story for San Diegans interested in police accountability issues, and the movement afoot to give San Diego a real citizen's review commission. Even Berkeley's "model" commission is stacked in favor of police. But at least there, sometimes citizens who suffer abuses do SOMETIMES get a fair hearing. Meggs gives details, including: What you need to know and do to file an effective complaint, and Why you should bother in the first place.
