Councilperson Toni Atkins and a coalition of local groups are pushing for City Hall to adopt a "Inclusionary Housing Policy" to remedy the crisis. Rent Control is being sidestepped for the benefit of the landlords. No "Inclusionary Housing Policy" that doesn't include Rent Control!

The largest political demonstration in San Diego this summer will take place 9:00 a.m. Tues. Aug. 6 at the Civic Center Plaza, 2nd Ave. and C Street. Middle and lower income families are facing a housing emergency, with skyrocketing rents and housing prices. The San Diego City Council will hold an all day session on Aug. 6 to discuss a Declaration of a Housing State of Emergency, and an Inclusionary Housing Plan that would require that affordable housing be built whenever and wherever developers build new residential projects. There is so much public concern about this problem that the Council meeting has been moved from the Council Chambers to Golden Hall.

As a model of this machine does not exist in our Patent Office at Washington, I shall beg the reader's indulgence while I attempt to give some account of it.
