Leftwing Defeatism
Tod,
|
I am strong, and resolute, trying to find stratagems to beat the big guys at their own game, but guess what? It appears that only Republicans are allowed this sense of exhilaration these days! The attitude of my liberal minded friends? Expect nothing less than DEFEAT! They are generally angry, and whatever hostility that comes their way from others, the more they feel PERSECUTED. Enemies of the state. And when the FBI doesn't come knocking? They're a little miffed.

What's Killing People with AIDS HIV or HIV Drugs?
Christine Maggiore and Jason Nusbaum,
|
In what's been called "the best-kept secret from Barcelona," Dr. Amy Justice's study, presented at the recent international AIDS conference, documents that liver failure and anemia are now the most common causes of death for people with AIDS and HIV-positive diagnoses. Neither liver failure nor anemia have ever been associated with HIV but both are well-known side effects of standard anti-HIV medications.

Why HIV Cannot Be the Cause of AIDS
Mark Gabrish Conlan/Zenger's Newsmagazine,
|
Recently Dr. Stephen J. OBrien, director of the Laboratory of Genomic Diversity at the National Cancer Institute, posted a five-year-old article to the SD-IMC newswire to suggest that because there is a strong (though not 100 percent) correlation between positive results on so-called HIV tests and risk of immune suppression, and because a variety of tests that dont actually measure the so-called Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) allegedly establish a connection between surrogate markers for HIV and AIDS-related symptoms, debate over whether causes AIDS should stop. This article, originally published in a 1998 end-of-year special edition of Zengers Newsmagazine, surveys the case against HIV as the cause of AIDS and shows why the debate should remain open.

Direct Action Versus Electoralism
Wayne / NHSS,
|
Anarchists engage in direct action as opposed to voting. This anti-electoralism (or anti-parliamentarianism) may seem strange and even perverse to many. After all, virtually the whole left believes in the importance of voting. In the US, liberals and state socialists have voted for the Democrats with a steadfastness that is almost religious, even as the Democrats have steadily moved to the right. In Western Europe, they have voted consistently for the Socialist or Labor Parties (social democrats), or Communist Parties, or, more recently, ex-Communist Parties.
