Raise the qestions that need to be asked with Sidewalk Chalk!
Anonymous Anti-War Dude,

Because of corporate control of the media, and their reliance on info from the Pentagon and the White House, there are lots of questions, clues, hints, lots of information in general that is not getting all the way through to the majority of American people. We can change that!

U.S., Not Iraq, Needs Regime Change
Tom Fox/National Catholic Reporter,

Wellstone Waste of Time
Marcus Aurelius,
|
If you needed any more proof on why exactly American electoral politics is such a total bloody waste of time after the McKinney debacle, here it is. Paul Wellstone, the US Senate's "voice of conscience," the same lonely dissenter who opposed the "Gulf" war, the same who joined demonstrators in the "Battle of Seattle," is now unsure whether to vote against a resolution supporting war in Iraq. Why? Because his re-election is only weeks away.

Weeks before the terrorist attacks on 11 September, the United States and the United Nations ignored warnings from a secret Taliban emissary that Osama bin Laden was planning a huge attack on American soil. The Pledge of Allegiance/Why the Appeals Court Was Right
Mark Gabrish Conlan/Zenger's Newsmagazine,
|
The appeals court ruling that including the words "Under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance is unconstitutional upheld the highest principles of the U.S. constitution, including the separation of church and state and the hysterical overreaction to the ruling on the part of both Democrat and Republican politicians just indicates the depths to which religious people in general try to impose their beliefs on non-religious people, and therefore the necessity of protecting the separation of church and state against those in elective office who would eat away at it and force us all to profess belief in their particular version of "God."

San Diego Free Press Summit a Success
Mark Gabrish Conlan/Zenger's Newsmagazine,
|
Over 60 people turned out for the August 20 organizing summit of the San Diego Free Press, a new community publication scheduled for launch by the end of the year. The idea is to create a truly people-oriented publication which will cover stories and offer points of view unrepresented in mainstream corporate media like the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Reader and San Diegos electronic media. Among the issues discussed were how the paper should be edited, financed and governed so it truly reflects the will of the people involved and not a traditional top-down hierarchical ownership. For information on the San Diego Free Press, visit the IMC Web site at www.sdimc.org
