Protests against the threatened U.S. aggression against Iraq are increasingly being led by people who have served in the military themselves. San Diego Medical Cannabis Advocates,
The San Diego City Council is scheduled to vote on guidelines for medical marijuana users Tuesday, February 4, 10 a.m. at San Diego City Hall, 202 C Street, 12th floor. The guidelines have been designed to protect the rights of medical marijuana users from arbitrary and destructive law enforcement activities by the San Diego Police Department and County Narcotics Task Force. They are facing major opposition from local police, federal agents, local so-called drug prevention agencies, and others with a vested interest in sustaining Americas failed War on Drugs no matter what the cost in human life and suffering. Mark Gabrish Conlan/Zengers Newsmagazine,
The primary election for Californias 39th State Senate District isnt until March 2004, but the predominantly Queer San Diego Democratic Club has already endorsed openly Lesbian Assemblymember and former San Diego City Councilmember Christine Kehoe over fellow Assemblymember Howard Wayne for the Democratic nomination. In fact, there was so little doubt about the endorsement that Wayne conceded well before the January 23 club meeting at which it was debated and told the San Diego Union-Tribune, Whats the point? Its a foregone conclusion that since their reason for existence is to elect Lesbians, theyre going to endorse Chris. I cant imagine any other outcome. Kehoe pointed out at the meeting that the club has endorsed hundreds of candidates, only a few of them Queer.
