It happened in over 600 cities around the world including Tokyo, Rome, London, across the United States and right here in San Diego. On Saturday, February 15th, protestors gathered on 30th street and Ocean View Boulevard to march to the National City Naval Station and speak out against the war in Iraq. Police estimated about 500 people gathered in this show of solidarity.

S.D. Council Removes Safe Harbor from Medical Pot Guidelines

At an all-day hearing February 4, the San Diego City Council approved a modified set of guidelines for medical marijuana patients and law-enforcement officers who have to deal with them. But in addition to slashing the amounts of marijuana any patient or caregiver may possess, the final guidelines removed the safe harbor provision which would have required the police to wait 72 hours before seizing live plants or processed medicine from a patient.

A.N.S.W.E.R. Peace March/Rally Draws Over 1,000 People

A peace march and rally sponsored by the San Diego branch of A.N.S.W.E.R. (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) February 15 as part of an international mobilization against the U.S.s war plans in Iraq drew over 1,000 people. The march assembled at 1 p.m. in a community park at 30th Street and Ocean View Boulevard and proceeded to the 32nd Street Naval Station, then back. The purpose was to call the U.S. government to account for its hypocrisy in demanding that Iraq give up weapons of mass destruction, while the U.S. has more weapons of mass destruction than any other country in the world.

More on the case of Steve Woodruff. The Riverside DAs granted immunity to Dennis James Smith for his 1989 killing of Arnold Palmer (not the famous one) in their rush to secure the death penalty for Woodruff. But jurors say Smith's immunized testimony was a waste of time. And the family of murder victim Palmer feel betrayed and used, and they'll never see justice done. Way to go, Mr. District Attorney.
