Witnesses For Jake
John Faust,
Jake Faust gunned down by police, 04/04/05, for minor traffic violation. So far nothing by lies have been printed, and so we need everyone's help to fight this, to prove that Jake was being harrassed. This kind of brutality has to stop, the police must be made accountable, the City must be made accountable, And the media must be made accountable!!

Exploring the “chasm”: A libertarian reply to
Movimiento Libertario Cubano,
* Responding to the invitation extended a few days ago from Havana by Celia Hart Santamaria – member of the Cuban Communist Party and daughter of prominent figures of the regime – calling for discussions on leftist alternatives for Cuba’s future, and where she explicitly asks for an anarchist opinion, the Cuban Libertarian Movement makes public its proposals for the debate.

Youth Busting Borders!!! Conference
Youth Action Network,
Youth in San Diego need to rise up to fight for our rights!!! We have some of the crappiest schools in the nation without enough textbooks, and with dirty bathroom facilities. Police and migra are harassing us in our communities and military recruiters harass us at school. The governor is cutting all of the money from education, but juvenile incarceration rates go up every minute! Its time to fight back!

Message to the American Police Officer
J. Croft,
Ever feel like a tool?
Ever feel like an ass enforcing a arbitrary speed limit with the same force as you would chasing away drug dealers and creepy trench coated old men from elementary schools? Ever wonder what the hell you or your partner were doing arresting that victim of criminal assault - ever wonder what you were doing making that assault? Making an anthill into a 'prosecutable' mountain so that your partner, or God forbid, yourself, can make a collar? Or standing by and stonewalling a desperate person pleading for your help, turning them away so that they go over the edge and create another bust or two for yourself?

Melanie Bush Critiques White Privilege
Mark Gabrish Conlan/Zenger's Newsmagazine,
Brooklyn College professor and administrator Melanie Bush gave a presentation at the First Unitarian-Universalist Church in Hillcrest February 23 to promote her book, "Breaking the Code of Good Intentions: Everyday Forms of Whiteness." Her presentation, like her book, discussed the mechanics of how the ruling elites in the U.S. have created a storyline of white supremacy that keeps working-class whites from uniting with working-class people of color to challenge elite control.

93 Percent Favor Limits on Civil Liberties
posted by Mark Gabrish Conlan,
A poll currently being taken on the PBS Web site reveals that, even among viewers of the "NOW" program (one of the few oases of genuine progressive politics on the "public" airwaves), an overwhelming 93 percent favor limits on civil liberties in the wake of 9/11 and the "war on terror." 82 percent said "we must use whatever means necessary to fight terrorism," and another 11 percent said, "yes, I'm willing to give up some freedoms for safety." Only 4 percent said, "no, safeguarding [civil liberties] is more important than ever." BE VERY AFRAID.

SDPD - Art Police?
repost from City Beat,
It seems that the SDPD is continuing their harassment and intimidation of anyone engaging in political activity by leaning on local businesses. This article from SD City Beat's locals only section details the harassment of the Hot Monkey Love Cafe in response to a politically oriented flyer advertising a show there. This is what our tax money is being spent on...
The prurient interests of San Diego vice officers were piqued two weeks ago when a flyer depicting Osama bin Laden sodomizing George W. Bush began circulating around the College Area.
The flyer advertised a Feb. 4 concert at Hot Monkey Love Café featuring local band The Dissimilars with out-of-town acts The Breakdowns and The Irish Brothers. Hot Monkey owner Alma Felan was paid a jarring visit by a San Diego Police Department vice detective the night before the show.
