The Sam Green/Bill Siegel documentary film "The Weather Underground," playing through September 25 at the Ken Cinema in Kensington, tells the story of the infamous direct-action armed-struggle faction of the 1960's student anti-war movement whose members went underground in the 1970's and gradually resurfaced. Co-director Green and Mark Rudd, a Weather Underground veteran who now rejects all forms of political violence on tactical grounds, were interviewed by three IMC volunteers on September 19, the night their film opened locally. The new movie "The Weather Underground" opened Friday at the Ken. Friday evening The San Diego IMC interviewed the director and an ex-member of the WUO. Showings of the film were well attended Friday night. Audience members got a chance to ask Sam Green (co-director) and Mark Rudd (ex-WUO) questions following the 7pm showing. Activists Face Intense Repression

In the wake of a massive fire set by the ELF in San Diego, activists are receiving intense harassment from the government. Activists have had their homes raided, have been detained by the police, and have had their homes photographed by agents sitting in SUV's. Still, they are resisting. On Saturday, there will be a rally and press conference held in Balboa Park where a number of activists will discuss the various forms of repression the government is using to silence free speech.
Update: Three more ELF actions were reported on Friday, August 22nd.
