Veterans Expose U.S. Military Atrocities
Mark Gabrish Conlan/Zenger's Newsmagazine,
The September 25 program at the First Unitarian-Universalist Church in Hillcrest was advertised as “War Crimes and Atrocities: The Rumsfeld Connection.” While the current U.S. Secretary of Defense was mentioned only in passing, the matter-of-fact tones in which the speakers, veterans Dennis Stout and Dorothy Mackey, told their stories chilled the blood of most of the 250 people in the room.

She heads the Meiklejohn Civil Liberties Institute in Berkeley, which plans to issue in March 2005 a report detailing all the civil-rights abuses of the U.S. government since 9/11.

About 500 San Diegans took part in the demonstration organized in solidarity with the Anti-war March in New York. The march following the speeches was loud and invigorating.
