Terrorism Began at Deir Yassin
James F. Harrington,
We are constantly reminded by our elected officials (and those whom have stolen the elections)and our pro-Israel filtered media, about the acts of revenge that Palestinian and Muslim groups have committed against the people of Israel.
However, we are almost never told about the horrible and inhuman state sponsored terrorism that the government of Israel has been inflicting against the people of Palestine since its inception.

The World Says No to War!
...,
"Every two days we spend 1 billion dollars in Iraq... Imagine what that money could do for the causes we believe in.... What they are doing with our money is criminal." Bob Filner was one of several powerful speakers at Sunday's "The World Says No to War" Demonstration in Balboa Park. About 500 San Diegans took part in the demonstration organized in solidarity with the Anti-war March in New York. The march following the speeches was loud and invigorating. As we marched we reminded on lookers that the war is not over yet and there is still a lot of peace work to be done. Photos || More Photos

Jim Hightower Draws 600 in San Diego
Mark Gabrish Conlan/Zenger's Newsmagazine,
Progressive author and organizer Jim Hightower spoke to a standing-room-only audience at the First Unitarian-Universalist Church in Hillcrest Friday, August 20. Hightower’s message was that progressives and populists must do all they can in this election campaign to make sure Democrat John Kerry beats George W. Bush and becomes President — but that’s only the beginning, not the end, of the task. “Beating Bush is not a progressive victory; it just brings us to ground level,” he said. “The day after the election we’re going to have to be in the face of the Kerry-Edwards administration to make them as progressive as we can,” he said.

A comparison of media distortion and spin on an issue close to home for us here in San Diego. Najaf and the Shrine of Ali
Voices in the Wildreness, c/o lotus,
Our country’s military now declares preparations to attack the Shrine of Ali in the city of Najaf in Iraq. Our country stands on the precipice of declaring war on Islam. An attack on the Shrine of Ali is an attack on the heart of Islam and must be nonviolently resisted in our country.
As the fighting and crisis intensifies in Najaf, Voices in the Wilderness calls for nonviolent acts demanding an end to the fighting. Call your Congressional Representative, US Senator and John Kerry’s campaign headquarters in your state to demand that they publicly call for an end to all US military actions in Najaf, against its citizens and at the Imam Ali Mosque. Call candidates for federal office in your state and issue the same demand.
If they don’t respond positively, initiate nonviolent direct actions at their offices. The time to act is now.

NAGASAKI NIGHTMARE
deadly reign,
Takakura Nobuko created this painting based upon what he saw in Hiroshima. Despite the hellish devastation all around him, this one thing stuck in Mr. Takakura's memory. In his own words: "A Man who died apparently on the spot lies there with one hand pointing to the sky. Blue flames rise from his fingers, and liquid the color of Indian Ink drips down." Mr. Takakura was 18 when he witnessed this haunting reality in 1945. To visit an entire gallery of artworks created by Hibakusha (Atom Bomb Survivors), please visit:

Movement for One Democratic Secular State
John Sigler,
As the Israeli occupation continues to grow ever more entrenched, more and more people around the world are reaching the conclusion that the ethnic separatist "two-state solution" is no longer viable possibility. The level of physical integration between Palestinians and Israelis, both inside and outside the Green Line, as well as simple demographic realities has effectively negated any realistic separatist schemes aside from the current "ghettoization" policy being employed by the Israeli government, which is not sustainable.
