He came over to the United States from his native country, Ireland around 1889, as a little boy of eleven years. At the RNC, I noticed two conflicting trends, one hopeful and one disturbing.

At two separate events, fire was used as a tactic at the RNC protests. In both instances, organizers claimed that the people who had set the fires were undercover police and provocateurs. There was one trend, initiated by an unknown source to escalate confrontations, there was another to decry such escalation.

The Iranians are about to commit an offense far greater than Saddam Hussein's conversion to the euro for his oil exports back in the fall of 2000. In March 2005 Iran is going to start competing with New York's NYMEX and London's IPE with respect to international oil trades - using a euro-based international oil-trading mechanism. What does that mean? It means that without some sort of US intervention (likely covert, but possibly overt), the euro is going to establish a firm foothold in the international oil trade in 2005 - which given U.S. debt levels and the neoconservative desire for U.S. global domination - provides a rather problematic situation. Indeed, numerous articles have revealed Pentagon planning for operations against Iran in 2005. The publicly stated reasons will be over Iran's nuclear ambitions, but the unspoken macroeconomic issues explain the Real Reasons regarding the 2nd stage of petrodollar warfare - Iran's upcoming oil Bourse.

Amazement, not at John Kerry's eloquence or George Bush's stuttering comments, but at the audacity of the remarks I was hearing. If I was unaware of the record of George Bush on civil rights and illegal maneuvers that he has made while in office, I would have actually thought that Bush, not Kerry was the lesser of two evils.

Massacre in Samarra

In Samarra, a major assault led by the U.S. has left at least 150 Iraqis dead including many women and children. Scores were injured and 88 people have been detained. The offensive began on Thursday when 5,000 U.S. and Iraqi troops invaded the city held by the Iraqi resistance. U.S. and Iraqi forces are now saying they have secured 70 percent of the city following one of the largest offensives in Iraq since the fall of Baghdad. The U.S. admitted at least 10 percent of the casualties were civilians, but local hospital officials said the percentage is much higher. Of the 70 dead brought to Samarra's General Hospital, officials reported 23 were children and 18 were women.
