HELP! It is our duty to do something about this madness gripping America. But what do we do?

Run for Congress. You need to look up who is running for Congress in your district- and if the choices are some Bushite Republican and Nancy "got no plan" Pelosi - then it is your duty.

THE POLITICS OF THE ANTI-WAR MOVEMENT
Bill Weinberg,

The Sept. 24 anti-war protest in Washington DC was hailed as a revival of a movement which had become somewhat moribund even as the quagmire in Iraq deepens with horrifying rapidity. The march brought out 300,000, by organizers' estimates—making it the largest since the start of the US invasion in March 2003.

Autonomous Community Dissent in San Diego?
passing info on,

While not an organizer of this event, the pure challenge to all of us and our comfort zones, is intoxicating. All of us wonderful, persons of conscience, in the peace movement should never fear questions about our ability to reach out and stretch our courage to confront Amerikan Empire and its dehumanizing, militaristic plague upon the world.

I note also that your Fortress America partner ex-CIA Director Mr.James Woolsey has an offshore account in the Caymans(Palidin) famous or should I say infamous for penny stock fraud and money laundering.Yes you and he set a fine example along with Asa Hutchinson and Oklahoma's Don Nickles of how decent Americans should NOT behave. Somehow your priviledged lifestyles have led you to perceive American ethical standards legal or not are for other Americans and not for yourselves.

U.S. threatens military action against Iran
Sara Flounders,

The script of the Iranian nuclear threat is a rehash of the lead-up to the 2003 criminal invasion of Iraq. At that time every arm of the U.S. and British media gave extensive, daily coverage to charges that Iraq had dangerous weapons of mass destruction, chemical and nuclear. It was all a fraud. The major corporate media went along and endlessly hyped every fabrication, as did the leaders of both political parties. They never admitted what was so obvious after 12 years of relentless war, sanctions and inspections: Iraq had no WMDs.

Beyond Mere Survival in the American Dystopia
Populist,

1984 has come to pass, both chronologically and in the Orwellian sense. Americans are "liberators" in Iraq. Opponents of this "peace initiative" are "doubleplusungood". Unchecked by the judiciary, the NSA electronically trolls for perpetrators of "crimethink". Pundits and the "liberal media" (owned by a handful of monolithic corporations despised by people with the values which many define as liberal) have become the Ministry of Truth for the Party...

"Why We Fight" Opens Today at Ken Cinema
Mark Gabrish Conlan/Zenger's Newsmagazine,

Eugene Jarecki's "Why We Fight," a powerful documentary on the imperialist agenda that has dominated U.S. foreign policy since the end of World War II, opens today (Friday, February 17) at the Ken Cinema in Kensington. Directed by Eugene Jarecki, the new film begins with former President Eisenhower's famous 1961 warning against "unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex" and shows how that "complex" has become an integral and almost ineradicable part of American society. "Why We Fight" represents a major political advance over Jarecki's previous film, "The Trials of Henry Kissinger" — whereas "Kissinger" was a liberal film, "Why We Fight" is a radical one.

The Terrorists’ Veto
Mark Gabrish Conlan/Zenger's Newsmagazine,

The current controversy over the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten's commissioning and publication of 12 cartoons depicting and caricaturing Muhammad is proof that the so-called "war on terror" really IS a clash of civilization. Despite the legitimacy of some Muslim grievances against the West (particularly the ongoing Israeli occupation of Palestine and the U.S. aggression against Iraq), the attack on the cartoons by an organization of 56 Muslim nations and street activists constitutes an attempt to use the threat of terrorism to force Western media to abide by the medieval laws of Islam at its most intolerant. Jyllands-Posten culture editor Flemming Rose is a hero of free speech and the cartoons should be reproduced in all Western media.
