Thousands rally in Tokyo against Iraq war!
Barefoot Gen,

Japanese protesters dressed like U.S. resident George Bush and Japanese leader Junichiro Koizumi take part in a rally against sending Japanese soldiers to occupied Iraq, at a Tokyo park on Sunday, January 25, 2004. Braving chilly temperatures, thousands of protesters gathered at the park to show their opposition to the dispatch of Japanese servicemen to Iraq, the first such mobilization since the second world war. Those who oppose Koizumi sending troops to assist the Americans note that the mobilization is in violation of the Japanese Constitution. (AP Photo/Kyodo)

Creative protest - 500 pairs of Army boots st
art attack,

Finally... a CREATIVE ACT to engage the public and make people think. Demonstrations are fine... but what we really need are hundreds, thousands, of creative works that intervene in the mass consciousness. An anonymous public art that speaks truth to power and dares to envision a different world. Mass political struggle is one thing... but profound, insightful, and bold cultural work paves the way to a world at last inhabitable. LET A THOUSAND FLOWERS BLOOM! No more business as usual... turn the city streets into open air art galleries! In this Reuters photograph by Frank Polich, Viet Nam Veteran Eddie Randolph looks over 500 pairs of boots laid out in Chicago's Federal plaza, January 21, 2004. The boots were placed there to remember the U.S. soldiers killed in the War in Iraq.

Wes Clark answers our SOA concerns!
Rick,

?We don't know how lucky we are here - A major candidate is willing to listen to what we say and, if he won't do EVERYTHING we want, he'll at least do what's possible - and even give us the credit where credit is due. Other candidates would not have even bothered to answer. Wes Clark has acknowledged our SOA concerns, and that's more than any of the major candidates have. Indeed, all the other major candidates are happy to ignore our concerns and leave the SOA as it is - without even reforming it.?

S.D. Girl Scouts Support Military Actions
Eric Isaacson,

. San Diego Girl Scouts 2004 Cookie-Sales Kick-Off Rally at Sea World Supports "Operation Iraqi Freedom," Joining President George W. Bush in Proclaiming "Mission Accomplished"

The San Diego-Imperial Girl Scouts organization apparently drafted our children - - without our informed consent - - to participate in a public demonstration of support for a right-wing President's program of aggressive military adventurism. Adventurism that a Girl Scout spokeswoman praised as "preserving our freedoms."

Howard Dean Hype: Don't Get Fooled Again!
posted by Pipard,

"If a President Dean replaced a President Bush--the heights of U.S. power would still be dedicated to empire and military domination, and they would even still be committed to some of the specific aggressive and unjust policies involved in conquering Iraq and waging an endless war on the world (in the name of a "war on terrorism")."

Ford: Holding America Hostage to Oil
lotus,

Holding America Hostage to Oil Environmental and Human Rights Activists Scale Downtown Skyscraper and Release Giant Banner to Protest US Oil Addiction. Among those involved were several activists from San Diego.

The unfurling of the banner occurred as people entered the LA Auto Show just blocks away. The banner was designed to raise public awareness about how Ford Motor Company and other auto manufacturers are needlessly keeping the US dependent on oil by refusing to increase the fuel economy of their vehicles.

"A typical Ford vehicle on the road today gets fewer miles per gallon than the Model-T did 80 years ago," said Jason Mark, Clean Car Campaigner with the human rights group Global Exchange.
