Terrorism Began at Deir Yassin
James F. Harrington,
We are constantly reminded by our elected officials (and those who steal their elections) and the pro-Israel filtered media, of the acts of revenge that Palestinian and Muslim groups have committed against the people of Israel, however, we are almost never told about the brutal and inhumane acts of state terrorism that the government of Israel has been inflicting against the people of Palestine, ever since its inception.

Blackwater-Potrero Protest
Louis (text added by sdimc volunteer),
Blackwater USA (1 | 2) is planning to open a training facility outside of Potrero, a rural community in southeast San Diego County. Blackwater is a rightwing mercenary corporation with close ties to the neocons which has operated in Iraq, New Orleans after Katrina and elsewhere. County officials are enthusiastic. Residents, environmentalists and those disturbed by trends towards privatizing military and police functions are opposed.
On thursday, a protest against Blackwater preceded the first hearing where the public has had a chance to ask questions about the plan. Photos from the Protest and Hearing
Comment from John B.: Scary -- Having read the book "Blackwater: The rise of the world's most powerful mercenary army" the thought of them opening another training camp anywhere is frightening. Through their political connections they are getting enormous contracts without bidding. The actions of its army in Iraq are not allowed to questioned and the murders committed by them cannot be questioned or the murderers brought to trial. Block them from your area if you can.

STOP THE KILLINGS AND ABDUCTIONS, MAKE THE US
AJLPP-USA,
The Alliance Philippine (AJLPP) condemn in the strongest terms possible the continued spree of political killings and abduction of progressive leaders in the Philippines.
The campaign of political killings and abduction continued unabated despite the international condemnation by international organizations of the US-Arroyo regime. And the most embarrassing, the killings and abduction were committed despite the Lenten season.

S. Brian Willson’s Environmental Apocalypse
Mark Gabrish Conlan/Zenger’s Newsmagazine,
S. Brian Willson’s greatest claim to fame is having been run over by a munitions train he was trying to block at a direct-action demonstration nearly 20 years ago, and having lost his legs in the process — but that's not what he came to San Diego to talk about April 2 at the Church of the Brethren. Instead, he talked about his background as a Viet Nam veteran, his growing resistance to authority of all kinds, and his vision of a cooperative commonwealth that he says humans will HAVE to accept once global warming unleashes an environmental apocalypse that will destroy capitalism and most, if not all, of the current human population.

“Equity Bill To Be Passed by June 30, 2007"
Justice for FIlipino American Veterans (JFAV),
“I wished we could to pass the Equity Bill by April 9, (on Bataan Day,) but we did not make it, I think, we can pass the Equity Bill by June 30.”
This was the direct answer of Representative Bob Filner (CA- 51) of San Diego and the Chairman of the Committee on veterans Affairs to the question of JFAV Coordinator Arturo P. Garcia when will Congress pass the equity bill during the Q and A portion of the Forum on Veterans Affair Issue. The forum was held last Monday, April 2 at the American Legion Post 206 in Highland Park, Los Angeles.
Congressman Filner also reported “that the appropriations are assured for the equity bill if it passes Congress before the year ends ” because the lower house have passed or earmarked more than $ 13.6 B appropriations for the veterans funding this fiscal year.

AJLPP HAILS PHILIPPINE SUPREME COURT DECISION
Alliance for A Just and Lasting Peace (AJLPP),
The Alliance for A Just and Lasting Peace in the Philippines (AJLPP) shared the progressive Filipino democratic movement joy and relief over the Supreme Court decision for the detained BAYAN MUNA Congress person Satur Ocampo.
It proved US President and jurist John Quincy Adams statement; “ The independence of the court safeguards the independence of the nation.”
The AJLPP also shared the revolutionary optimism of Ka. Satur when he said: “ “At the very least [the high court] will order the case reinvestigated; at most, it will quash the information altogether”
“The fact that the Supreme Court granted me bail indicates that the government violated the process in filing the charge against me and that the charge itself is defective and thus I should be entitled to my freedom”
While we savor the tactical victory we are not completely happy that Congressperson Ka Bel ( Crispin Beltran) is still languishing in jail together with more than 200 other political prisoners like the Mamburao 6 and the Tagaytay 5 all of home are peasants. We should exert all efforts to free all political prisoners and stop the political persecution under the US- Arroyo regime.

Emergency Demo: No War Against Iran!
David Paul,
The Bush administration continues moving closer to a nuclear attack on Iran. Last week, the Russian News and Information Agency Novosti (RIA-Novosti) quoted military experts predicting the US will attack Iran on April 6th, Good Friday. According to RIA-Novosti, the imminent assault will target Iranian air and naval defense capabilities, armed forces headquarters as well as key economic assets and administration headquarters. Massive air strikes will be deployed, possibly tactical nuclear weapons as well, and the Bush administration will attempt to exploit the resulting chaos and political unrest by installing a pro-US government... We, in the United States, have a MORAL OBLIGATION to try to STOP THIS ATROCITY FROM HAPPENING!
Congress is in recess, which means rep Susan Davis (D) may be at her office on April 4, 2007. The US may attack Iran on April 6, 2007.
Emergency Demonstration: No War Against Iran! Wednesday (?) April 4 4-6PM Susan Davis' Office Fairmont and University in City Heights

Public Hearing: Blackwater Training Facility in San Diego?
Lance/reposts,
Blackwater, a multi-million dollar mercenary company owned exclusively by a right-wing Christian billionaire, is trying to develop an 824-acre military training facility in the rural community of Potrero in southeast San Diego. All of the land is either within the Cleveland National Forest or an Agricultural Preserve.
The citizens of Potrero are trying to stop its construction but are having a hard time stopping the political power of Blackwater. --Read More--

Comments on Previous Articles Include s t a r r: I work in the Cleveland National Forest, hiking with kids every day through the very meadowlands you describe. There is no way in hell Blackwater USA, war profiteers, Inc. are going to invade our public lands... Not only should Blackwater be dismantled, their activities in Iraq should be revealed. They send mercenaries in to kill, maim, and injure, and then deny negligence when their people get killed and dragged through the streets...--Read More--
Connie: Just what we do not need is the crazy making of war here in Southern California. Why is it that money talks so loud, there is no benefit to the citizens of the area, it is not bringing new revenue or jobs to the area. The land is better used as farm land, we need food not weapons. The Potrero Planning Committee have been seduced into believing this is in their best interest. I am wondering how many of them were enticed with favors and money? The military already have a training facility in that area, they take up a huge portion of the land with their military training. The sound carries for miles, the chopper activity, etc is heard everywhere. --Read More--

Iraq War: Counting the Cost
Stewart A. Alexander,
The post invasion Iraqi death toll is now estimated to be as high as 1,000,000, far higher than the previous estimate of 655,000; this is according to recent scientific data. Over 5,000,000 Iraqis have been hurt or wounded. Recent figures indicate the refugee numbers have climbed from 2,700,000 to over 3,900,000 and the refugee crisis is broadly impacting the entire region of the Middle East. These are the figures that are not being reported on American television or in American newspapers.

Chalmers Johnson/Imperialism vs. Democracy
Mark Gabrish Conlan/Zenger’s Newsmagazine,
Retired UCSD professor Chalmers Johnson spoke at the First Unitarian-Universalist Church in Hillcrest March 23 and gave an overall summary of his most recent book, "Nemesis: The Last Days of the American Republic." Johnson argues that America's continuing status as an imperialist power and in particular its military adventurism and maintenance of a network of at least 737 military bases around the world is incompatible with any commitment to democracy. Either America will remain a republic or remain an empire; it cannot do both, Johnson says.

ALLIANCE PHILIPPINES (AJLPP-USA) STATEMENT ON
by AJLPP ,
The Alliance for a Just and Lasting Peace in the Philippines (AJLPP) joins hundreds of thousands of protesters in hundreds of cities and towns across the United States and all over the world to mark the fourth anniversary of the U.S. war and occupation of Iraq and the 40th year of the protest march at the Pentagon during the Vietnam War in 1967. Four years after George W. Bush hastily declared the war to be “over,” more than 3,200 U.S. soldiers, 650,000 Iraqis have died and hundreds of thousands including more than 30,000 American veterans maimed in an ongoing brutal war and occupation which was premised on lies. Onboard that aircraft carrier Lincoln,Bush said that he would make the Philippines the “model of democracy” for Iraq. But to Filipinos, it meant the death of 840 social activist, 200 misssing and the jailing of 200 patriots including two congressmen: Satur Ocampo and labor leader Crispin Beltran who were stripped of their parliamentary immunity.

Is Iran Next? What can the average person do
Jenny Anderson,
Marches, petitions, calls, and faxes to congress are important channels for political action, but what could possibly stop a new war with Iran? One has to wonder, are our congressional leaders even reading their faxes? A notable website called www.isirannext.org recently published over 80 names and organizations of people whom directly influence policy and the president. Maybe through side channels, average Americans can get their message through.
