Zine noun \ˈzēn\ : a noncommercial, homemade publication usually devoted to specialized and often unconventional subject matter

Team False Start is a collective of zine-enthusiasts dedicated to promoting zine culture as a means to connect the pre-exisiting communities in L.A.–artistic or otherwise. We aim to create opportunities for people to share self-published works and host events that encourage ideas to spill out onto paper in pictures and words. We believe that by embracing the urge to create and sharing ideas there can be a more robust and formidable local zine community that extends beyond bookstores and bedrooms. In order to accomplish these goals, we are organizing an event that has been needed for a long time: Los Angeles Zine Fest 2012! This is an opportunity for So-Cal zinesters to come together en masse and meet and exchange ideas with those from all over the country.

FAQ--
How much is admission to the Zine Fest?

::GASP!:: We would not think of charging admission to this fine festival. The Zine Fest is a free, open-to-the-public event. We’d prefer that you save your money for buying zines.
Where can I park?

There are pay lots all over downtown, ranging in prices from $3 to $10. There are meters on the street but please read the signs carefully. Also, beware of one-way streets! In truth, you’d probably be better off taking the subway.
How can I get there by public transportation?

The Last Bookstore is located on the ground floor of 453 S. Spring Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013. That’s convenient to the Pershing Square Metro Station, accessibly by either the Red or Purple subway lines. This location is also easily accessible by several bus lines. We recommend using Google Maps’ public transit directions, you should be able to navigate the best way to get from your home, hotel or a convenient transit hub to the Zine Fest.
Can I drink in there?

Lemonade, yes; booze, no. We won’t be selling any booze, but there is a bar right across the street and plenty more in a two block radius, so you can have it all eventually.
Are you wheelchair/stroller/SegWay-accessible?

With the exception of the SegWay, which should be left downtstairs, we are totally accessible. We have a rather comodius elevator (look for signs to the elevator outside the building by the entrance) and a ramp indoors.
