Concert for Corky: Retire the Orcas!

06/07/2015 3:00 pm

The day after Empty the Tanks Worldwide and our own observation of it outside SeaWorld San Diego, several of San Diego's most dynamic musical acts will perform in "Concert for Corky," the longest-held orca in captivity. She has lived in a concrete tank at SeaWorld San Diego for the past 25 years, following 20 years at the late Marineland of the Pacific in L.A.

The backdrop for honoring the hardest-working female in show biz will be the "Corky Freedom Banner" -- an historic folk art installation, over 1.5 linear miles long, assembled in the 1990s of handmade fabric panels submitted from throughout the world calling for Corky's freedom, after being taken from her family in the Salish Sea off the coast of British Columbia in December 1969 and forced to entertain us for the profit of entertainment corporations ever since.

Be a part of history and join this "Concert for Corky" with these stellar performers standing up for the retirement of the Orca entertainers:

Lisa Sanders and Brown Sugar
Chris Clarke and Plow
Kiyoshi Shelton
San Diego Women's Drum Circle
