San Diego Peace and Dignity Journeys Collective invites you to a
fundraiser benefit and community building event for sharing stories and
dialogue about the seeds we wish to plant for the betterment of our

The event is scheduled for Sunday, June 26, 2016, to be held at Centro Cultural De
La Raza, 2004 Park Blvd. in Balboa Park from 11 to 3pm. Parking is available in the lot
across the street. The event is wheelchair accessible and is
family-friendly, open to all ages and abilities.

This is a fundraiser for the run that will happen this summer. We ask a
sliding scale donation of $5-$20, no one turned away for lack of funds.

We will also be selling food, beverages, desserts, t-shirts, organic fair
trade coffee beans, and native seeds for your garden.

The Peace and Dignity journey happens every four years however, we at the
San Diego PDJ would like to create an ongoing Inter-tribal space to
support our local Indigenous communities and to create a space for
connection between Indigenous community and non-Indigenous communities.

One of the goals of this event is to build support for the run coming in
July and create a space to bridge different communities involved with the
run through sharing the stories of our communities, the challenges and
needs of our different communities, and together envisioning the seeds we
wish to plant together for future generations.

The program will consist of roundtable presentations from community
leaders and participants involved with Peace and Dignity and a talking
circle dialogue.

This will be a space to envision and develop the role of PDJ in our
various communities to consider how we can manifest the prophecy and the
teachings. We look for community insight into how we can provide a safe
place for critical reflections of PDJ and how we can improve our
communication and an ongoing commitment to/within our communities on a
more consistent basis, and not just every four years when the run passes
by, if we are to manifest the prophecy for all days to come.

Speakers will address the current issues and struggles facing our
different communities in the San Diego region and our respective seeds of
solutions for these challenges we face. These dialogues can connect to the
previous themes of PDJ: Seeds (2016), Water (2012), Sacred Sites (2008),
Women (2004), Family (2000), Children (1996), Elders (1992). But we also
hope to add new conversations on other issues that we know are impacting
Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities who are connected to PDJ such
as: addiction and healing, gangs / crime, abuse / violence, sexism, and
homophobia, loss of culture and identity, suicide, historical trauma, and
mental health, wellness and health, education, empowerment, sovereignty,
land, food, medicine, and traditions.
