Marcha Migrante 7 A Walk with César Chávez Starts

We are less than one month away from our historic MARCHA MIGRANTE VII! Join us as we continue to organize, and prepare for it! We again start February 2 (Dia de la Candelaria & Treaty Guadalupe Hidalgo) at Cesar Chavez Park in San Diego, to La Paz California (where Cesar is buried) then return to Friendship Park where we will celebrate one of Cesar's 10 principles each day to include a day of fasting, partial day of working in fields, meeting with Chavez family members as well as celebrating 50th anniversary of UFW founded by Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta. Please join us, host us or support us as we need to "Walk with Cesar" and practice his 10 principles, today more than ever. Si Se Puede !

Tentative Schedule:
* February 2 @ 1200 Noon Opening Celebration (CESAR CHAVEZ PARK).
Head to Holtville Cemetery to pay homage to thousands of brethren that have died crossing US/Mexico Border (Almost 700 buried here) Unidentified but not forgotten. Posada @ Silverado Ranch
* February 3 Holtville to Yuma (to see Cesar Chavez birthplace). Visit our friends @ Coachella and do joint action. Posada at Coachella Mission
* February 4 head to Los Angeles Press Conference & Community Gathering @ Placita Olvera with COFEM & other organizations. Posada with our friend Josefina Lopez @ her new theatre
* February 5 Sunday Service - Head to La Paz Visit Cesar’s Gravesite
* February 6 Bakersfield, Delano, 40 acres
* February 7 Stockton (visit our friends from EL CONCILIO)
* February 8 Modesto (El Concilio & others)
* February 9 Sacramento
* February 10 Return to San Diego
* February 11 @ 12 noon Friendship Park (San Diego)

Highlights of previous marchas include meeting with Dolores Huerta in Los Angeles on Marcha I to help spark the national "Immigrant Megamarches of 2006"

Holding a vigil on Marcha Migrante II at the spot where Marco Antonio Villaseñor and 18 men died in Victoria, TX after crossing US/Mexico border. Meeting with Paul Chavez at La Paz, where his father is buried,

Driving through a snowstorm would not stop Marcha Migrante III. Later we meet at Friendship Park with 3,500 of our closest supporters and Elvira Arellano.

Marcha Migrante IV takes us from Florida to the White House (partial trail later used by dreamers) where 30,000 letters are delivered asking brand new President Barack Obama for Humane Immigration Reform and meeting with Judiciary department demanding investigation of Arizona outlaw sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Marcha Migrante V "American Dream or Nightmare" where legendary playwright, Josefina Lopez joins us entire Marcha and is inspired to write "DETAINED IN THE DESERT" play based largely on Border Angels and Marcha experience.

Marcha Migrante VI TRAIL OF TEARS from Friendship Park and Playas de Tijuana to Calexico and Hotel Migrante as we walk and travel on both sides of fence 125 mile in solidarity with our migrant brothers and sisters, continuing to demand justice and humane immigration reform.

Marcha Migrante VII where we again start February 2, from Cesar Chavez Park in San Diego, to La Paz California where we will celebrate one of Cesar's 10 principles each day to include a day of fasting, partial day of working in fields, meeting with Chavez family members as well as celebrating 50th anniversary of UFW founded by Cesar and Dolores.
