Biographical information on veteran legal and religious activist Daniel P. Sheehan, who will speak in San Diego Friday, May 23, 7 p.m. on “Our Current World Situation and The Question of Peace” at Montezuma Hall, Aztec Center, 5500 Campanile Drive, San Diego State University.

Daniel P. Sheehan Biographical Information

Daniel P. Sheehan is working closely with the candidacy of Representative Dennis Kucinich for President. In fact, I understand that he wrote the copy for the resolution (HJR-20) that Rep. Kucinich brought to the floor of the House which related to the President’s authority to go to war.

From 1995 to 2000 Danny served as director of “The Strategic Initiative to Identify the New Paradigm” of the Gorbachev Foundation’s State of the World Forum. He has lectured on this subject since then. Currently, he is in the process of starting “The New Paradigm Institute” at “The Cambridge Institute for The Study of New World Views.” He spoke on this subject to the leadership of the Institute of Noetic Sciences at Petaluma, CA in 2/03. Moreover, he will be the Opening Speaker to the IONS Southwest Regional Gathering, Saturday, May 24, 2003, 8:30 a.m., on the theme: “Becoming the Transformation: Accelerating the Emergence of Global Wisdom Societies.” This gathering is at the California Institute for Human Science, 701 Garden View Court in Encinitas.

He will also be speaking in San Diego at 7 PM on Friday, May 23, 20/03 on “Our Current World Situation and The Question of Peace” at Montezuma Hall, Aztec Center, 5500 Campanile Drive, SDSU. His audience in San Diego will be the enlarged activist community. Tanja Winter’s Peace and Democracy Task Force of the Unitarian Universalist Church is helping on this along with Plan of Action in a Changing Era, and SANDIONS, the local IONS affiliate. Tabling is available free at event if reserved ahead of time. Admission $5 for students, $10 for everyone else. When he was here ten years ago he spoke to 800 people at USD’s Shiley Theater.

Danny Sheehan has had an illustrious backgound of defending many of the good causes in our lifetimes: Chief Counsel for the Karen Silkwood and Iran-Contra Scandal Cases, ACLU Attorney at Wounded Knee, Protector of the public safety at Three Mile Island, Founder of the Christic Institute, Chief Counsel at the National Jesuit Social Ministry Office, Legal Counsel for the New York Times in the Pentagon Papers Case and James McCord in the Watergate Case, etc.

The IONS Southwest Regional Gathering

You are invited to a stimulating, creative, cultural paradigm break-through event. Gather with community leaders like yourself and enjoy a profound exchange in the intimate setting of the “World Café” format. Our focus for this gathering is “Becoming the Transformation into Global Wisdom Societies.” Danny Sheehan will open the gathering and begin the framing of our inquiry. He is the Director of the New Paradigm Institute of the Campridge Institute for the Study of New World Views. Danny will share some “cutting edge” thinking on the new cultural paradigms emerging in our society and the contribution his institute will be making to this shift. Our work together will begin a feedback mechanism that will accelerate this change. You can make a contribution to this momentous “Great Conversation―. It is time for us to win the Peace. This Memorial Day Weekend Gathering will assist the Emergence of Global Wisdom Societies and the necessary paradigm shift.
