"Finally Resting in Whitehorse Yukon First Nation Territitory baby"!
I'm back everyone. Today is the 3rd day of our resting day in Whitehorse. Today we got to wash our stinky clothes, buy some necessities that we need, then later in the night we had a mens talking circle at the Whitehorse Clinic not to far from where we are staying. In addition later on in the night we shared more food, traditional songs, and dances. It was really a empowering and beautiful night for us all. I am real tired and I am going to go to sleep. Goodnight. Aho!
Now I am in Haines Junction, Yukon Territory!
Right now it is real late. Honestly when you look outside though it looks as if it is only like 7:30, but really it is 11 p.m. Today we came from the White River Nation in Burwash, Canada. All of us as runners ran all together about 70 miles. The way that we ran is called leap froging by either quarter miles or miles. First we started off with quarter miles because most the elders from the community's that we visited told us that where we are running through is all bear country so we took that into consideration you know.
Greetings from Bear Country!
Hola!
So we crossed the "border" and we are in the Yukon Territory..we've covered over 180 miles in the past 2 days and we're still going strong!
The communities have been more than welcoming and it is interesting to see the similarities between these commnities and the ones back home..we all have the same struggles and are all fighting for our rights..
since i've been here...i've seen caribou, a moose, a bald eagle, and even a grizzly bear! i tasted salmon jerky, moose, buffalo, and caribou..i still miss carne asada tacos and Eegee's tho!
hope you are all doing well,
