Canoe Creek Secwepemc Territory
It was good to here from the companero Oscar in the south. We have been thinking about all the runners down there. We ended up having to spend an extra day here in Canoe Creek so it is giving me some time to update the blogs. I have to give props to Brad, Indymedia and the volunteer translators for all of your work. We can't send hardcopies of stuff due to cost, but when we reach the states I will try.
We are in the heart of BC, Canada and will be in Vancouver in a few days. We have learned so much from all of the nations up here. We are all facing similar struggles across the continent. Large companies threatening to destroy our mountains for minerals, factories polluting our rivers for profit or drilling for oil and gas. All of this at the expense of humanity.
The story repeats itself from Alaska to BC and i'm sure as we continue to move south. Many communities suffer from the effects of drugs and alcohol or from cancer due to pollution of rivers, soil and air.
There is also the threat of processed, artificial foods that contribute to our death. Many of the elders say the only thing they used to die from was old age. Many lived to be over 100.
The runners just met up with a tributary route from Bella Coola, BC and we will continue to Vancouver. We will then spread out again into three different routes in Washington. Two will go towards California and another towards Nevada.
paz,
